T. Helms. for refund of expense incurred on sewer obstruction in <br />the amount of $19.25 was taken up. Upon motion the City 1~ager was instruoted to advise Dr. <br />Helm that request for refund is denied on basis of reports and investigation of complaint. <br /> <br />Upon motion of Bailey and seconded by Davis. and carried the Order of DeMolaywas granted <br />permission to observe Municipal Day in the various City Departments. <br /> <br />Letter of G. E. Butler requesting permission to operate bar under a Restaurant License <br />was submitted and read. It was moved by Hawn and seoonded by Davis that request be tabled <br />udal future meeting when all members of the Council were present. McKiernoin. regarding Trailer House submitted and read. <br />and seconded by Bailey that matter be tabled. <br /> <br />j' <br />Moved by Hawn <br /> <br />Judiciary Committee reported on the matter of the vacation of High Street et al. at <br />reuqest of School District No. 4 and University of Oregon. in consideration for the opening of <br />Pearl Street. Motion made by Bailey and secOnded by Hawn that the proposed ordinance effecting <br />vaoation be laid on table. Motion was carried. City Attorney advised that should the Counoil <br />desire to ro-open the matter in the future a new ordinance be drawn and proposal re-advertised. <br /> <br />Judiciary Committee recommended that in accordance with the Charter Amendment. effective <br />immediately all'administrative matters. approval of monthly 'bills and land sales. be turned <br />to the City Manager; that the warrants be signed by the Mayor and -Manager. In making reports <br />to the Council there shall be no definite schedule for same. but are to be submitted from time <br />to time as the occasion arises. Motion to this effect made by B&ley and seconded by Crum- <br />baker and carried. <br /> <br />Motion made by Crumbaker and seconded by Hawn and oarried that'the City Manager be <br />requested to make a survey of City Hall Building rentals and leases and report back to the <br />Council. <br /> <br />Motion made by Bailey and seconded by Orumbaker that the City Manager be requested to: <br />(1). Secure all available information on proposed state hi-way bi-pass and approaches. To <br />contaot school board. eto. relative to Pearl Street cressing. <br />(2). Request Electrical Board to bring in Electrical code revisions for Council Considera- <br />tion~ Motion was carried. <br /> <br />Motion made by Hawn and seconded by Bailey that office facilities for the City Manager <br />be provided. costs to be charged against City Manager's budget. On roll call all councilmen <br />present voting AYE. absent Hurley. <br /> <br />Moved by Davis and seconded by Crumbaker that salary of City Engineer be raised from <br />$312.50 per month to $350.00 per month.
