<br />REPORT OF OFFICERS:

<br />The Chief of Police submitted the report of the Police Department for
<br />the month of January, 1945. Upon motion report was ordered received and placed
<br />on file. A summary of sewage.charges billed and collected by the City Waterr
<br />Board as of January 31, 1945 was submitted and upon motion was ordered received
<br />and placed on file.

<br />The Board of Appeals has received a request from R. D. Randolph asking for a
<br />-waiver of i'set-back" for a garage on Lot 5 block 30, Fairmount Addition. This
<br />lot is on the east side of Fairmount Boulevard where there is a steep bank. As
<br />there are a number of garages built up to the sidewalk along this side of the
<br />street, t~e Board recommends that this request be granted on condition that he
<br />keep back as far as possible.
<br />
<br />A request was also received from Clarence Hines, Ass. Super. of the City Schools
<br />asking for a waiver of the Code requirements for a continuous concrete found-
<br />ation under ten or more portable class rooms which are to releive over-crowded
<br />conditions at the grade schools. These building are to be 20 feet by 30 feet
<br />in size and of a temporary nature. The Board recommends that this request be
<br />granted.
<br />
<br />A letter was received from the Twin Oaks Builders Supply Co., through Bert H.
<br />Snook, asking to be allowed to substitute gypsum plaster board in lieu of the
<br />present code requirements of two layers of shiplao as a one-hour fire sepera-
<br />tion between garages and living quarters where both occupancies are .in the same
<br />building, The board recommends that one layer of No. 4 shiplap and one layer
<br />of 3/8 inch shett rock or plaster board be required as the one hour fire sep-
<br />eration between such occupancies.

<br />A letter from the Oregon Association of City Police Officers requesting
<br />an expression from the Council relative to House Bill #344 providing for a
<br />retirement plan for all State, County & City employees. Motion was made by
<br />Hawn and seconded by Crumbaker that the Common Council go, on record as endors-
<br />ing house bill number 344. Motion was carried.. '

<br />be amended by substituting property description tract as follows:

<br />bers street in the City of Eugene, Oregon, running thenoe south along said east line of Cham-
<br />bers street to the north line of 13th avenue west, 334.25 feet, thenoe east along the north
<br />line of 13th avenue west, 908.8 feet more or less to the east line of the property oonveyed
<br />by F. G. Vaughn to S. H. Friendly and R. S. Bean by deed recorded in book 24 page 142 Lane Co.
<br />Deed records, thence north 33.465 feet 'to the south line of 12th avenue west thence west 906.5
