We trust that this clarifies the situation that has arisen with regard to the question of laying sidewalks at the above- ,mentioned location." Motion car.ri,ed,. A request from John Snellstrom for fire protection on his house and barn, located outside:the City Limits, was consid,er.ed. It was' moved by Hawn, seconded by Bailey, tha,t the resolutiond previously adopted by the City Council with reference to Fire protection contrac~s be amended to include all types of property in addition to industrial property. Motion carried. A communication from Forest R. Witmer re: improvement of Tyler Street from Br.oadway to West 10th, was submitted and read. "After numerous unsuccessful attempts. to contact, the eight property owners in,the block between West Broadway and 10th, on Tyler, I finally managed to complete the canv~ss. All but one of the owners were interviewed, but only three of them would sign the petition for the street paving. I' am enclosing same for you to dispose of as you may' see fit. ,'. \ I I trust you may be able to secure some immediate action for us on the block between 8th and West Broadway this month." It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Johnson that the communication be received and placed. on. file. A communication from John L. Luvas, Attorney re: annexation of Invale 23 and City Outlook Additions, was submitted and read. " "Enclosed herewith find petitions of remonstrance against the calling of an election for the incorporation'of Inavale and City Outlook Additions into the City of Eugene. These petitions are signed by a substantial majority of the resident owners of property in said area." 24 It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Hawn that the letter and petition be re- ceived and placed on file. Mr. Herb Robbins appeared before the Council presenting petitions and oral argument for proponents of annexation declaring a majority of resident pro- perty owners to be in favor of an annexation election. I i It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Wells that the City Manager be instructed , to check the petitions of the two groups and to report back h~s findings at the I next regular meeting of the Council.
