<br />Council Bill No. 255 - Regulating and licensing solicitors within the City of
<br />I 22 Eugene, read the first time August 25, 1947, was brought on for second reading.

<br />The following amendments to Council Bill 255, as proposed by the Judiciary Committee ~p
<br />were submitted and read. .'"
<br />
<br />"Section 3. Fees. The license fees for solicitors hereunder shall be as
<br />follows: $5.00 per-annum for each fiscal year or fraction thereof payable in
<br />advance, for each firm employing solicitors as defined in Section 1. The City
<br />Recorder may waive the payment of the license fee for any applicant who is an
<br />I honorably discharged disabled soldier, sailor or marine of the military or naval
<br />service of the United States, who is a resident of this state an<< suffers not less
<br />than forty per cent disability, upon presentation of such applicant's certificate
<br />of honorable discharge from such service and such disability, and for any applicant
<br />who is a blind person and resident of the State of Oregon."

<br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Johnson that the ordinance as amended be
<br />read the second time.

<br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Johnson that the rules be suspended by
<br />unanimous consent and the ordinance as amended be read the third time and given
<br />final passage. All Councilmen present voting AYE, the ordinance was declared
<br />passed and numbered 9058. Hawn, Davis and Pennington absent.

<br />Council Bill No. 256 - Levying assessments for construction of concrete sidewal
<br />23 on the North side of 13th Avenue West between Chambers and Grant Streets, was sub-
<br />mitted and read the first time.
<br />
<br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Allen that the ordinance be laid over and
<br />notice be given to the affected property owners.
<br />
<br />Council Bill No. 257 - Re: Reclassification of Lot 1, Block 9, Chambers
<br />24 Addition to business classification was submitted and read the first time.
<br />
<br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Allen that the rules be suspended by
<br />I unanimous consent and the ordinance be read the second time. ' Motion carried.
<br />
<br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Bailey that the rules be further suspended
<br />and the ordinance be read the third time and given final passage. All Councilmen
<br />present voting AYE, the ordinance was declared passed and numbered 9059.

<br />25 A Resolution - He: Condemnation of certain properties, was submitted and read
<br />as follows:

<br />"Vf.dEREAS, the Eugene Water Board, thr ough resolution duly adopted and further
<br />acting by and through the Superintendent has requested the Common Council of the
<br />City of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, to institute certain condemnation proceedings
<br />for the acquisition of land for right of way of water transmission pipe line and
<br />electrical transmission and distribution lines and other structures as may be re-
<br />quired incidental thereto,
<br />
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Eugene,
<br />that 1.21 acres, more or less, of land belongine to and owned of record by L. G.
<br />Raish and Myrtle Raish, described as follows, to-wit:

<br />Beginning at a point 1143.0 feet south and 808.2 feet East of a point
<br />in the center of the County Road, said point being 2693.68 feet north
<br />I of the S. W. corner of the Wm. C. Spencer D.L.C. No. 50, Notif. No.
<br />3265, T. 17 S. R. 3 W. of the ~V.M.; said point of beginning being on
<br />the west boundary of that tract of land conveyed to Lawrence St. Chance,
<br />et ux, as described and recorded in Vol. 271, page 530 of the Deed
<br />Records of Lane County, Oregon; from said point of beginning thence
<br />south 61.0 feet; thence North 800 00' east 876.9 feet to the west
<br />boundary of a tract of land conveyed to Darrel F. Rossiter, et ux, as
<br />described and recorded in Vol. 281, page 699 of the Deed Records of
<br />Lane County, Oregon; thence North along said west boundary 61.0 feet
<br />I to a point 981.1 feet South of the center of the County Road; thence
<br />South 800 00' west 876.9 feet to the point of beginning, and containing
<br />1.21 acres, more or less; the above described land consisting of a strip
<br />60 feet in width, subject to the right of the grantor to build and
<br />maintain roadways and irrigation ditches across said strip of land,
