Petition of Mr. Landers - representing Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hoven - as
architect, for permission to maintain extra apartment in single family dwelling to
be built on Onyx Street between 21st and 22nd Avenues.
The Board recommends that the request be held for further study.
2. Petition of Mrs. Ward, 2527 Aga te St., for variance of setback to accom-
modate garage--this being a new structure on an existing foundation.
This petition was referred to the City Attorney for an opinion as to the
legality of rebuilding a nonconforming structure - as to setback.
'3. Petition of Mr. R. E. Harrell, 708 Washington St., again requesting waiver
of setback line on 7th Avenue for the purpose of constructing a service station.
The establish~d'set-back is sixteen feet, and the Board stands on its previous
action denying the variance.
4. Petition of Mr. Hoffman, 887 Willamette St., for a waiver of setback at
the southeast corner of 24th Ave. East and Alder St. Since there is a proposed
widening of 24th Avenue being considered, the Board withholds any recommendation
until widening proceedings have been settled.
5. A petition from Mr. Ali Sivrioglu, 715 East 13th Avenue, to conduct a
popc orn and confec tionery concession wi thin the Busin'ess District. Said concession
I would be a nonconforming trailer-type building, and would be portable. The lo-
cation is 43 West lOth Avenue, in the rear of Seymour's Cafe.
The Board has referred this matter to the Council for permission to conduct
this concession in the type of building requested. The petition is attached hereto.
It was moved by Davis, seconded by Johnson that the report of the Board of Appeals
be received and placed on file and that the recommendations No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 be
1 approved. Motion carried. It was further moved by Bailey, seconded by Davis that
recommendation No. 5 as contained in the Board report be referred to the Public
Safety Committee.
A report of the Planning Commission re: vacation of a part of Inavale Street,
11 was submitted and read as follows:
"The City Planning Commission begs to report that it has considered the appli-
cation of Mr. R. W. Martin for the vacation of a part of Inavale Street heretofore
P!esented to the Common Council and by the Council referred to the Planning Com-
mission and Street Committee of said City, and respectfully recommends the approval
of the petition and the institution on the City's own motion of the vacation of
the are~ of said street as petitioned."
...t
