Motion carried. <br /> <br />A report of the Board of Health re: meat and milk inspection, was submitted <br />11 and read as follows: <br /> <br />"The Board of Health for the City of Eugene meeting in regular session April <br />12, 1948 adopted the following motion: <br /> <br />'It was moved by Dr. Fox, seconded by Dr. Furrer that the Board of <br />Health recommend to the Common Council that the milk ordinance for <br />the City of Eugene be amended to provide for the collection from <br />all licensed milk distributors milk inspection fees based on 1/2~ <br />per pound of butter fat on all milk sold in the bottle and can <br />trade within the City of Eugene as a means of providing necessary <br />funds to support a rapidly expanding milk inspection program; and <br />that the ordinance be further amended to make its provisions con- <br />form to State Milk Sanitation regulations. Motion unanimously <br />adopted. ' <br /> <br />In submitting this recommendation, the Board desires to call the Council's <br />attention to the increasingly heavy milk consumption within the City of Eugene <br />which has made it necessary to extend dairy inspection to the coast area, Grants <br />Pass and Mount Angel." <br /> <br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the report of the Board be received <br />and placed on file and that the matter be referred to the City Attorney for pre- <br />paration of the requested ordinance amendments. Motion carried. <br /> <br />PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />12 <br /> <br />An application from the Oregon Electric Railway Company to construct a spur <br />track across Filmore Street and on West Fifth Street, was submitted and read. <br /> <br />"The Oregon Electric Railway Company hereby petitions your honorable body to <br />grant to it a revocable permit to construct a railroad spur track across Filmore <br />Street and on West Fifth Street, in the City of Eugene, Oregon, the center line of <br />said spur track being described as follows: <br /> <br />Beginning at a point in the center line of West Fifth Street, said <br />point being the center line of the main track of the Oregon Electric <br />Railway Company as now constructed and 12.8 feet east of the east <br />line of Filmore Street; thence westerly through a 60 ft. lead, <br />Number Seven turnout to the right ?O feet; thence on a 15 degree <br />curve to the right through an angle of 50 12' 30" a distance of <br />34.? feet to the point of compound curve6 thence on a 15 degree <br />curve to the left through an angle of 13 22' 30" a distance of <br />89.2 feet; thence tangent to last curve parallel with and 10 feet <br />southerly from the north line of West Fifth Street a distance of <br />55.? feet. <br /> <br />There is attached to this application and made a part hereof a plat drawn to <br />scale upon which is shown the portion of said street desired to use for the spur." <br /> <br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Hawn that the application be received and <br />placed on file and that the necessary ordinance be submitted for approval. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />.~ <br />
