GRADING ~EPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS ARE ALSO SENT TO THE <br />OREGON INSURANCE RATING BUREAU AND ANY ADJUSTMENT IN IN!?URANCE RATES APPROVED BY THE OREGON <br />RATING BUREAU IS BASED UPON GRADING AS SUBMITTED.BY THE NATIONAL BOARD OF FIRE UNDERWRITERS. <br /> <br />PRESENT GOAL IS A REDUCTION FROM THE PRESENT 5TH CLASS TO 4TH CLASS." <br /> <br />NO ACTION TAKEN. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF COMMITTEES <br /> <br />7 A REPORT OF THE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - RE: VARIOUS IMPROVEMENTS WAS SUBMITTED AND READ <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />"A MEETING OF THE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE WAS HELD ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 1950 WITH <br />COUNCILMEN CRUMBAKER (CHAIRMAN) AND GODLOVE; CITY MANAGER AND CITY ENGINEER PRESENT. <br /> <br />IT WAS RECOMMENDED BY THE COMMITTEE THAT THE REQUEST OF MR. A. DORSEY, 760 W. 12tH <br />AVENUE TO DIVIDE A 55'xI60' LOT IN TWO PARCELS BE GRANTED. THIS RECOMMENDATION WAS BASED <br />UPON THE fACT THAT IN DIVIDING THIS LOT EACH OF THE PARCELS,WOULD CONTAIN 44..QJl.-s'QUARE FEET <br />ADJACENT TO A THROUGH ALLEY, AND OTHER LOTS IN THAT AREA ALSO CONTAIN MOR~ THAN ONE HOUSE <br />PER 6000 SQUARE FEET. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />THE FOLLOWING SEWER PETITIONS WERE REVIEWED AND IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THEY BE <br />REFERRED TO THE C'TY ATTORNEY FOR THE PROPER ORDINANCES. <br /> <br />SANITARY SEWER IN THE ALLEY BETWEEN PEARL AND HIGH STREET FROM 16TH TO 17TH AVE. <br />SANITARY SEWER ON WEST SIDE OF MISSION FROM 24TH & VAN NESS TO ABOUT 400 FEET EAST <br />OF VAN NESS. <br />SANITARY SEWER ON THE SOUTH SiDE Of SUMMIT STREET FROM FAIRMOUNT BLVD. TO HEN9RI~K'S <br />:PARK.. <br />SANITARY SEWER IN THE ALLEY BETWEEN WASHINGTON AND JEffERSON FROM 24TH TO 25TH. <br /> <br />IT WAS ~ECOMMENDED THAT COUNCIL BILL No. 746 - RE: BUILDING CODE BE PASSED, ADOpTING <br />THE 1949 UNIFORM BUILDING CODE. THIS RECOMMENDATION WAS MADE AFTER DETERMINING THAT THIS <br />CODE PERMITTED SUCH VARIANCES AS WERE DEEMED NECESSARY TO ALLOW THE USE OF ANY ~ATERIAL <br />OR METHOD Of CONSTRUCTION NOT SPECIFICALLY PRESCRIBED IN THE CODE. THAT THE BUILDING <br />OFFICIAL MAY APPROVE ANY SUCH ALTERNATE PROVIDED HE FINDS THAT THE PROPOSED DESIGN IS <br />SATISFACTORY AND COMPLIES WITH THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 23,' AND THAT THE MATERIAL, METHOD <br />OR WORK OffERED. IS, fOR THE PURPOSE INTENDED, AT LEAST THE EQUIVALENT OF THAT PRESCRIBED <br />IN THIS CODE IN QUALITY, STRENGTH, EFfECTIVENESS, FIRE RESISTANCE, DURABILITY, AND SAFETY. <br />(SECTION 23 - ENGINEERINQ SECT'ION AND DESIGN). <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />~ <br />
