THE BAKERY COMPANY <br />STIPULATED IN THEIR REQUES~ THAT THEY WOULD DESIRE TO UTILIZE THIS LOCATION ONLY UNTIL <br />THEY BECAME WELL ENOUGH ESTABLISHED HERETO BUILD THEIR OWN BUILDING, AND THAT IT WOULD <br />BE PERFECTLY AGREEABLE THAT UPON THE SALE OF THEIR PR~SENT PROPERTY, WERE A VARIANCE <br />GRANTED, THAT UNDER NO CONDITIONS WOULD IT BE SOLD TO ANYONE DESIRING TO USE IT FOR A <br />BAKERY BUSINESS. THE COMMITTEE AGAIN RECOMMENDED DENIAL OF THIS REQUEST DUE TO ITS <br />LOCATION IN A VERY DENSELY OCCUPIED RESIDENTIAL AREA. <br /> <br />C. THE COMMITTEE REVIEWED THE REQUEST OF MR. FRANK P. WALKER TO REMODEL THE HOUSE <br />AT 690 W. 11TH AVENUE (SOUTHEAST CORNER OF 11TH AND MADISON) INTO A FOUR UNIT APARTMENT <br />HOOSE.' HIS REQUEST'STIPULATED THAT HE DESIRED TO REMODEL THIS HOUSE INTO TWO APARTMENTS <br />UPSTAIRS WITH ONE RESIDENCE DOWNSTAIRS. HE WOULD BUILD A THREE CAR GARAGE IN THE REAR <br />WHERE THE PRESENT GARAGE IS, WITH A THREE ROOMCAPARTMENT UPSTAIRS~ MR. WALKER'S SKETCH <br />SHOWED A FOUR FOOT SIDEWALK BETWEEN THE PROPOSED GARAGE AND HIS SOUTH PROPERTY LINE~ <br /> <br />No PARTICULAR OBJECTION WAS VOICED TO'GRANTING THIS VARIANCE PROVIDED ALL OF THE <br />SETBACK PROVISIONS AND GENERAL BUILDING ORDINANCES WERE COMPLIED WITH. No SPECIAL <br />RECOMMENDATION WAS MADE. <br /> <br />4. IMPROVEMENT PETITIONS - A. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE COUNCIL APPROVE THE PETITION <br />REQUESTI NG THE PAVING OF FRIENDLY STREET FROM 16TH TO 17TH AVENUE WITH 100% REQUESTING <br />THE IMPROVEMENT. <br /> <br />B. THE COMMITTEE REVIEWED THE PETI TION FOR PAVING 27TH AVENUE WEST FROM McMILLAN <br />TO OLIVE AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE APPROVAL OF THIS BE WITHHELD WITH THE RECOMMENDATION <br />THAT 27TH AVENUE BE PAVED RROM PORTLAND TO OLIVE WHICH WOULD INCLUDE ONE MORE BLOCK. <br />THE PRESENT PETITION WOULD LEAVE A BLOCK OF UNIMPROVED STREET BETWEEN TWO IMPROVED STREETS. <br /> <br />5. THE COMMITTEE REVIEWED THE ANNEXATION PETITION OF MR. AND MRS. ERNEST J. EVANS TO <br />ANNEX THE PROPOSED SUBDIVISION BETWEEN 29TH PLACE AND 30TH AVENUE BETWEEN THE EAST CITY <br />LIMITS AND ONYX STREET PROJECTED AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE COUNCIL APPROVE THIS ANNEXATION <br />BY RESOLUTION. <br /> <br />6. THE COMMITTEE CONCURRED IN THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE CONSULTING ENGINEER AND CITY <br />MANAGER THAT CHANGE ORDER #6 BE APPROVED FOR THE EUGENE SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT. THIS <br />CHANGE ORDER INVOLVED AN EXPENDITURE OF $569.10 IN CHANGING THE SUPPLIER OF' AERATION <br />TUBES FROM A SIX INCH AIR LIFT TO A FOUR INCH AIR LIFT AS RECOMMENDED BY THE SUPPLIERS <br />OF AERATION TUBES." <br /> <br />IT WAS MOVED BY CRUMBAKER, SECONDED BY BOOTH THAT IN THE MATTER OF INVITING MR. BENNETT <br />TO ASSIST US IN OUR ZONING PROBLEMS, THAT THE REPORT OF THE COMMI~TEE BE APPROVED AND THAT THE <br />DATE FOR:THE CONFERENCE BE LEFT OPEN FOR LATER ARRANGEMENT.
