ROBERT HELLING HAD MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO PURCHASE <br />THE TRIANGULAR SHAPED LOT ON THE NORTHEAST SIDE OF PEARL STREET FROM 29TH PLACE SOUTH. <br />THIS PURCHASE WAS MADE WITH THE PROVISION THAT THE CITY VACATE THE EAST TEN FEET OF THIS <br />STREET TO PROVIDE A TRIANGULAR BUILDING SITE AFFORDING 4,982 SQUARE FEET. IT WAS NOTED <br />THAT THE VACATION OF THIS TEN FEET WOULD LEAVE 40 FEET WHICH WOULD ADEQUATELY CONNECT <br />PEARL STREET WITH 29TH AND WOULD BE THE ONLY METHOD OF UTILIZING THIS PIECE OF GROUND. <br />IT IS THE, SPECIFIC REQUEST OF MR. HELLING AND THE PROPERTY OWNER ACROSS THE STREET THAT <br />THE COUNCIL APPROVE GRANTING A WAIVER TO ENABLE THE CONTRACTOR NOW PAVING PEARL STREET <br />AND 29TH PLACE TO INCLUDE THIS PAVING IN HIS CONTRACT. <br /> <br />IT WAS 'RECOMMENDED BY THE COMMITTEE THAT IF MR. HELLING COULD ASSURE PAYMENT UNDER <br />THE BANCROFTING PROCEDURES THAT THE TEN FOOT STRIP BE VACATED, THAT A VARIANCE BE GRANTED <br />TO PERMI T HIM TO CONSTRUCT A ONE FAMILY HOME ON THIS TRIANGULAR PIECE OF GROUND WI TH <br />DIMENSIONS OF 94 FEET ON THE NORTH, 106 FEET ON THE EAST AND 140 FEET ABUTTING THE STREET, <br />AND THAT APPROVAL BE GIVEN TO EXTEND THE PRESENT CONSTRUCTION TO COVER THE,PAVING WITH <br />100% OF THE PROPERTY OWNERS SIGNING THE WAIVERS REQUESTING THIS WORK. <br /> <br />5. FURTHER STUDY OF THE REQUEST OF MR. E. N. RHOADS FOR A VARIANCE PERMITTING THE <br />CONSTRUCTION OF AN OFFICE BUILDING TO HOUSE THREE DOCTORS ON THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF <br />JEFFERSON AND 8TH AVENUE RESULTED I N THE RECOMMENDATION THAT THIS VARIANCE BE GRANTED. <br />THIS RECOMMENDATION WAS MADE AFTER VIEWING PLOT PLANS AND ELEVATIONS SHOWING THE BUILDING <br />PLANS AS INCLUD[NG A ONE STORY STRUCTURE WITH RED TILE ROOFS AND BRICK VENEER FRONT. <br /> <br />I T WAS FELT ~HAT THIS OFFICE ON THIS CORNER WOULD BE BENEFICIAL TO THE AREA. THE <br />RECOMMENDATION OF GRANTING THIS VARIANCE WAS BASED UPON THE FACT THAT THE STRUCTURE <br />WOULD BE ONLY ONE STORY AND WOULD HAVE NO ELECTRICAL OR NEON SIGNS, AND WOULD COMPLY <br />WITH PROPER SETBACK LINES AND ALL BUILDING'CODES INVOLVED." <br /> <br />AT THE REQUEST OF COUNCILMAN SIEGENTHALER, ITEM NO.5 OF THE REPORT WAS ORDERED SEGREGATED <br />FOR SPECIAL CONSIDERATION. <br /> <br />IT WAS MOVED BY BOOTH, SECONDED BY GODLOVE THAT THE REPORT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ITEM No. <br />, . <br />5, BE ADOPTED.
