MOTION CARRIED. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />COUNCILMAN SIEGENTHALER RAISED THE QUESTION OF THE COUNCIL POLICY WHICH PROVIDES THAT <br />THE CITY PAY FOR THE COST OF ARTERIAL STREET CONSTRUCTION IN EXCESS OF 36 FEET IN WIDTH WHERE <br />SUCH STREETS PASS THROUGH RESIDENTIAL AREAS OF THE CITY. HE TOOK THE POSITION THAT IT WOULD <br />BE MORE EQUITABLE FOR THE CITY TO ALSO PAY THE ADDITIONAL COST OF HEAVY BASE PAVING OVER AND <br />ABOVE THE COST OF THE NORMAL LIGHTER BASE RESIDENTIAL PAVING. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />IT WAS MOVED BY SIEGENTHALER, SECONDED BY OWEN JHAT THE MAYOR APPOINT A SPECIAL COMMITTEE <br />TO STUDY THE COUNCIL POLICY AND DETERMINE IF IT SHOULD BE CHANGED. MOTION CARRIED. <br /> <br />THE MAYOR ANNOUNCED THAT THE ARTERIAL STREET POLICY COMMITTEE WOULD CONSIST OF COUNCILMEN <br />CONE, KOPPE AND BOOTH. <br /> <br />COUNCILMAN KOPPE SUGGESTED THAT PERHAPS THE CITY SHOULD ALSO PAY SOMETHING ON THE COST <br />OF THE STREET TO COMPENSATE THE PROPERTY OWNER SINCE THE ARTERIAL ON WEST 18TH WILL RUN THE <br />LENGTH OF SOME LOTS.
