THis IS AN
OLD INSTALLATION AND:THEAE ARE NO RECORDS OF CONNECTIONS IN THE BUILDING DEPART-
MENT, NOR IS THERE A MANHOLE AVAILABLE TO CHECK STOPPAGES IN THE MAIN LINE. THE
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS SAID THAT ALL PLUMBERS HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO CHECK THE
MAIN LINE FIRST AND If THE STOPPAGE IS IN THE MAIN LINE TO CONTACT THE ENGINEERING
DEPARTMENT. HE AGREED THAT THIS WAS AN UNUSUAL SITUATION AND THAT MR. GODLOVE SHOULD
PERHAPS,BE COMPENSATED FOR WORK WHICH THE CITY WOULD HAVE HAD TO DO~ IT WAS RE-
COMMENDED TO HOLD THIS ITEM IN COMMITTEE UNTIL FRIDAY, JUNE 6, 1958, AT WHICH TIME
MR. GODLOVE WOULD SUBMIT A BREAKDOWN Of HIS CHARGES.

4. REPORT ON DISCUSSION:WITH BREEDEN BROS. REGARDING PAVING Of 36TH AVENUE fROM DONALD
TO HILYARD STREET - THE COMMITTEE AGAIN DiscusseD THE REQUEST BY BREEDEN BROS. FOR
PAVING OF 36TH AVENUE FROM DONALD TO HILYARD STREET,WHICH ITEM,HAD BEEN HELD IN COM-
MITTEE SO THAT CITY OFfiCIALS COULD NEGOTIATE WITH BREEDEN BROS. WITH THE THOUGHT IN
MIND THAT BREEDEN BRO~. WOULD PAY-F6R PAVING THAT PORTION OF THE STREET WH1~H WOULD
PASS THROUGH PARK PROPERTY. THE ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER STATED THAT.HE HAD-DIS-
CUSSED THE MATTER WITH BREEDEN BROS. AND THAT THE POSSIBILITY OF THEIR PAYING FOR
THIS PORTION Of THE PROJECT IS VERY REMOTE. HE FURTHER STATED THAT NO FUNDS ARE
AVAILABLE AT PRESENt, NOR ARE- ANY BUDGETED IN THE fUTURE, WHICH THE,CITY COULD USE
TO PAY FOR THE CONTEMPLATED PAVING THROUGH PARK,PROPERTY.

THE CITY ATTORNEY EXPLAINED THAT THE COUNCIL COULD, PAY FOR THE PAVING'OF THE STREET
THROUGH' PARK PROPERTY ONLY IF THE PARK WEREBENEFITED~ THE SUPERINTENDENT OF PARKS
& RECREATION STATED THAT IN HIS OPINION THE PROPERTY TO THE NORTH OF THE PROPOSED
STREET UNQUEST~ONABLY wOULD NOT BE UsED FOR PARK PURPOSES,:BUT THE. AREA TO THE SOUTH
MIGHT BE DESIRABLE. IT HAD BEEN- SUGGESTED PRE~IOUSLY THAT. SEVERAL LOTS IN THIS
AREA MIGHT BE SOLD SINCE THEY WOULD: NOT BE DESIRABLE FOR PARK PURPOSES., THE COM-
MITTEt RECOMMENDED THAT~HE pAVING 6F 36TH AVENUE FROM DONALD STREET TO THE: WEST
BOUNDARY OF THE PARK PROPERTY BE APPROVED, AND THAT THE CENTURY OF PROGRESS FUND BE
CONTACTED REGARDING T~E POSSI~ILITY OF REMOVING RESTRICTIONS REQUIRING THAT THE
PROPERTY BE USED FOR PARK PURPOSES ONLY AND ALSO TO SET A MINIMUM PRICE'ON THE
PROPERTY.

5. REQUEST FOR SEWER TO SERVE THE WEST SIDE OF FRIENDLY STREET SOUTH OF 28TH AVENUE -
THE ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER STATED THAT HE HAD A PETITION FROM RESIDENTS ALONG THE
WEST SIDE OF FRIENDLY STREET SOUTH FROM THE PRESENT TRUNK SEWER LINE FOR THE IN-
STA(LATION OF,A SEWER wHICH WOULD CONNECT WJTH THE PRESENTCI~Y SEWER. ,TH~COM-
MITTEE RECOMMENDED THAT THIS REQUEST BE GRANTE~ AND THAT THE NECESSARY ORDINA~ES.
INITIATING THE PROJECT BE PASSED.

6. RECOMMENDATIONS OF TRAFFIC ENGINEER FOR VARIOUS CHANGES IN TRAFFIC ORDINANCE - THE
FOLLOW,I,NG CHANGES TO TI::IE T~AFFIC ORDINANCES WERE RECOMMENDED BY THE TRAFFIC ENGI- ,
NEER:

A.
