<br /> THE CITY FROM THE NEW FREEWAY BUT WILL HANDLE A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF ,THE EUGENE- I
<br /> SPRINGFIELD TRAFFIC. IN CONNECTION WITH THE REQUEST ,THAT SOME RELIEF' BE GRANTED I
<br /> IN THE AREA OF THE fERRY STREET BRIDGE, THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT HAS ADOPTED A I
<br /> "WAIT AND SEE" POLICY WITH THE IDEA THAT RELIEF MIGHT BE GRANTED IF: THE PROBLEM

<br /> ONE SOLUTION TO THE FERRY STREET BRIDGE PROGRAM WAS GIVEN TO THE COMMITTEE
<br /> WHICH WOULD INVOLVE THE INTERPOSITION OF THE TWO LANES AT 6TH AVENUE AND HIGH
<br /> STREET, ONE BEING THE FERRY STREET BRIDGE LANE AND:THESECOND BEING NORTHBOUND,
<br /> TRAFFIC ON 6TH AVENUE. THIS WOULD ELIMINATE THE NECESSITY FOR A:.THREE P.HASE "
<br /> LIGHT AT 6TH AND HIGH. THE SECOND ,ITEM WOULD BE THE REROUTING OF TRAFfiC 'FROM
<br /> THE RIVER ROAD AREA BEFORE IT GETS TO 6TH AND7TH AVENUES AND THE 1ST TO 4TH
<br /> CONNECTOR WAS LOOKED UPON AS A POTENT I AL SOLUT I,ON TO TH I S PROBLEM. THE THIRD
<br /> IDEA ENVISIONED THE EARLY INSTALLATION OF THE JEFFERSON STREET BRIDGE.
