<br />QUESTIONS WERE RAISEO WITH RESPECT TO INFORMATION AS TO WHAT OTHER AREAS IN
<br />THE NATION ARE DOING ON THIS SUBJECT, AND WITH RESPECT TO THE COORDINATION
<br />NECESSARY IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT PERHAPS THE CENTRAL LANE COUNTY PLANNING AGENCY
<br />MIGHT BE THE COORDINATING FACTOR.

<br />THE QUESTION OF DEVELOPMENT OF PARK AREAS OUTSIDE THE CITY WHERE SCHOOL flACILITIES
<br />MIGHT DEVELOP WAS RAISED, AND SOME DISCUSSION WAS HAD ON THIS SUBJECT. IN THIS
<br />RESPECT IT WAS POINTEO OUT THAT IF JOINT USE Or fACILITIES WOULD DECREASE THE COST,
<br />THE IDEA COULD UNDOUBTEDLY BE SOLD TO THE CITIZENS. MAYOR CONE FURTHER STATED THAT
<br />SUCH JOINT DEVELOPMENT OF SINGLE AREAS WOULO UNDOUBTEDLY CUT DOWN THE AMOUNT OF
<br />LAND BEING RETAINED IN PUBLIC OWNERSHIP AND OFF THE TAX ROLLS. IT WAS FURTHER
<br />SUGGESTED THAT JOINT SCHOOL ANO PARK DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM COULD WELL APPRECIATE
<br />PROPERTY-VALUES ,IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF THE SCHOOLS.

<br />IT WAS MOVEO AND SECONOEO THAT THE ADMINISTRATIVE STAFFS OF THE CITY ANO SCHOOL
<br />DISTRICT PREPARE A JOINT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR SCHOOL FACILITIES AND P~RK FACILI-
<br />TIES ANO PRESENT SUCH A PROGRAM BACK TO THE TWO GOVERNING BODIES. To THIS END IT
<br />WAS SUGGESTED THAT THE QUEENS WAY SITE MIGHT WELL BE A PILOT PROGRAM.

<br />STRUCTION WITH THE PLATTING OF SUBDIVISIONS, PEDESTRIAN_ CROSSING PROBLEMS ON ,30TH
<br />AVENUE IN THE VICINITY OF HARRIS SCHOOL. AND OVER THE PROPOSED SPENCER BUTTE Ex-
<br />PRESSWAY, ANO THE NECESSITY FOR LONG RANGE PLANNING BY THE CITY, BY THE SCHOOL
<br />DISTRICT IN RELATION TO SCHOOL LOCATION, STREET LOCATION, SIDEWALKS, TR~FFIC
<br />REGULATIONS, AND OTHER FACTORS.

<br />SOME DISCUSSION WAS ALSO GIVEN TO THE NEEDS OF SCHOOL DISTRICT #4 IN THE WILLA-
<br />KENZIE AREA AS IT RESPECTS A SEWER SYSTEM TO THE AREA. DISCUSSION WAS ALSO HAD

<br />ON THE LICENSING OF LIQUOR OUTLETS IN THE VICINITY OF SCHOOLS AND THE FACT THAT
<br />SINCE THE ATTORNEY GENERAL HAS RULEO THAT DRY ZONES ARE EXTRA LEGAL, THE COUN~IL
<br />HAS BASICALLY ACTED FAVORABLY ON MOST APPLICATIONS WHERE APPLI.cANTS HAVE BEEN
<br />APP-ROVED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

<br />THE ~UBJECT OF JOINT PURCHASING BETWEEN THE CITY AND SCHOOL DISTRICT #4 WAS
<br />ALSO DISCUSSED. No FORMAL ACTION WAS TAKEN ALTHOUGH IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT
<br />THE ADMINISTRATIVE STAFFS WORK CLOSELY TOGETHER ON THESE PROBLEMS."

<br />THE COURSE OF THE QISCUSSION IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT A LETTER OF INTENT TOWARD THE
<br />RELINQUISHMENT OF MAHLON-SWEET AIRPORT TO_THE COUNTY BE GIVEN TO THE COUNTY, ~HAT
<br />THE LEGAL DETAILS BE WORKED OUT, AND THAT A DEED BE PREPARED TRANSFERRING THE AIR-
<br />PORT TO THE COUNTY.

<br />MAYOR CONE POINTEO OUT THAT THE CITY HAS A LARGE NUMBER OF NECESSARY PROJECTS AND
<br />WOULD HAVE TO ,GO TO THE PEOPLE FOR FUNDS FOR THESE PROJECTS. HE AGREED THAT THE
<br />BROAD BASE THEORY FOR OPERATION OF THE AIRPORT IS PROPER. SOME DISCUSSION WAS
<br />HAD ON THE TIMING OF COUNTY PARTICIPATION IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE AIRPORT, AND
<br />THERE WAS GENERAL AGREEMENT ON THE PROVISIONS OF LEIGH FISHER'S REPORT IN WHICH
<br />THE COUNTY WOULD, IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS, MATCH FUNDS THE CITY HAS INVESTED IN
<br />MAHLON-SWEET AIRPORT SINCE THE END OF WORLD WAR II.
