West University Task Force Final Report June 2003 and others in discussions about neighborhood conditions and.potential SolutiOns. This input presented new ideas for force members and reinforced concerns identified earlier in the process. The neighborhood clean-up day was another opPortunity for stakeholders to Participate in community care-taking, an important element for empowering residents and changing negative perceptions about the neighborhood. Lone Term $1rategies At the April l0 meeting, the task force prioritized its long-term strategies. The top ten strategies are listed below and are p~esented in the order of their preference by the task force. The task. force recommends that decision makers dedicate resources to pursuing these strategies for the West University Neighborhood's long-term viability.-' Where available, ideas fOr strategy implementation are noted, but are not meant to be considered exclusively. 1. Housing Standards The task force strongly believes ihat changes to the physical environm~t of the neighborhood are necessary to improve.livabiiity and raise community ~aretaking standards for residents and visitors.
