The neighborhood clean-up day was another opPortunity for stakeholders to Participate <br /> in community care-taking, an important element for empowering residents and changing negative <br /> perceptions about the neighborhood. <br /> <br /> Lone Term $1rategies <br /> <br /> At the April l0 meeting, the task force prioritized its long-term strategies. The top ten strategies <br /> are listed below and are p~esented in the order of their preference by the task force. The task. <br /> force recommends that decision makers dedicate resources to pursuing these strategies for the <br /> West University Neighborhood's long-term viability.-' Where available, ideas fOr strategy <br /> implementation are noted, but are not meant to be considered exclusively. <br /> <br /> 1. Housing Standards <br /> The task force strongly believes ihat changes to the physical environm~t of the <br /> neighborhood are necessary to improve.livabiiity and raise community ~aretaking standards <br /> for residents and visitors.
