SASSER HAD PETITIONED <br /> THE PLANNING COMMISSION fOR VARIANCE IN A C-3P DISTRICT TO OPERATE A SHIRT LAUNDRY. <br /> MR. ZACHARY PRIOR TO THE DEAD- <br /> LINE ATTEMPTING TO GET THE LAYOUT DONE IN TIME fOR THE WORK THIS SUMMER. MR.CLlff <br /> COOK HAD ACQUIRED THE PERMISSION Of MR. ZACHARY TO DO SOME BUILDING ON THIS PRO- <br /> PERTY, AND MR. COOK HAD REQUESTED THAT THE PAVING AND SEWERS BE ALLOWED TO PROCEED, <br />I BUT SINCE THE WORK LOAD Of THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT WAS SUCH THAT1TH~COULD NOT <br /> DO THE ENGINEERING ON THIS PROJEC~, IT WAS HIS REQUEST THAT HE BE ALLOWED TO HIRE <br /> A PRIVATE ENGINEER TO COMPLETE THE WORK. IT WAS THE RECOMMENDATION Of THE PUBLIC <br /> WORKS DIRECTOR THAT MR. COOK BE ALLOWED TO PROCEED WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THE JOB <br /> WOULD BE INSPECTED BY THE CITY Of EUGENE, AND THAT THE ENGINEERING BE DONE IN A <br /> MANNER APPROVED BY THE CITY ENGINEER, AND ALSO WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT THE <br /> CONTRACTOR HIRED TO DO THE WORK WOULD NOT PLACE THIS JOB IN PRIORITY OVER WORK HE <br /> HAD ALREADY CONTRACTED fOR WITH THE CITY Of EUGENE.
