City Hall Space, Corps of Engineers - The Army Ergineers had invited sub- <br />mission of bids for space in Eugene, approximately 1500 square feet. <br />Since the Engineers cannot enter into an agreement for more than one year <br />nor pay money in advance of a rental contract, Mrs. Lauris moved seconded <br />by Dr. Purdy to enter a bid on the completion of available-space for the <br />Army Engineer Corps. Motion defeated. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />13. City Hall Plaque - A list of quotations having' previously been presented <br />to members of the City Council for their consideration for placement on <br />a plaque to be placed in the new City Hall, Mrs. Lauris moved seconded <br />by Mr. Hawk to use the words "THE PEOPLE ARE THE CITY". Motion carried. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />14. "Declaration of Independence" Plaque - The Eugene Women in Construction <br />requested the privilege of hanging a plaque of the Declaration of Inde- <br />pendence in the new City Hall. After some discussion by members of the <br />Council, Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to refer the item for <br />additional consideration by the staff. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mrs. Laurismoved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve Items 11, 12, 13, and 14 of the Com- <br />mittee report. Motion carried. <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />15. Land Purchase, Sewage Treatment Plant - The Public Works Department recom- . <br />mended that the City acquire approximately 12:8 acres ad~acent.to City- <br />owned property in the sewage disposal plant area at a purchase price of <br />$4,000.00 per ~cre. The land now belongs to D. W. Shaffner. If pur- <br />chased, it will be held in reserve for possible further construction. <br />Mr. Christensen moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to approve the purchase of <br />the land. Motion carried. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />16. Bids, Airport Administration Building - Bids' had previously been submitted <br />by Kenneth Paul, $6,209.00, and Vik Construction Company, $6,738.00, for <br />completion of the south end of the Mahlon Sweet tower building now used <br />for parking. Mr. Christensen moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to complete <br />the room and award the contract to Kenneth Paul, Paul Construction Company, <br />on his bid price of $6,209.00. Motion carried. <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />17. Sewers, Lombard P~at - A petition was presented bearing signatures re- <br />presenting 81% of the total front footage of the properties to be <br />assessed in the Lombard Plat "for sanitary sewer construction. Mr. Hawk <br />moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the petition for the sewers. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that Items ~S, 16, and 17 of the' Committee re- <br />port be approved. Rollcall vote. All councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />18. Vacation, Snell Court - The Public Works Department, with the concur- <br />rence of Mr. Lindberg, recommended vacation of a portion of the inter- <br />section of Snell Court with Snell Street, and that no cost for the <br />'vacation proceedings be assessed to Mr. Lindberg. Mr. Chatt moved <br />seconded by Mr. Swanson to approve the vacation. Motion carried~ <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />19. Vacation. portion of Kincaid Street at Potter - The Public Works De- <br />partment recommended vacation of a portion of Kincaid Street at <br />Potter Street, and that no cost of the vacation be charged to adja- <br />'cent property owner. Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Swanson to <br />approve the recommendation. Motion carried. <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br />20. Parking Restriction, 2055 Patterson, ~CA - John Morgan, director of <br />the YMCA, requested prohibition of parking at the east curb of <br />Patterson Street from the crosswalk to the most northerly driveway <br />into the YMCA lot, and that the curb be painted yellow to indicate <br />the restriction. The Public WorKs Department recommended approval, and <br />in addition said that signs would be instailed indicating passenger <br />loading would be permitted.
