Ford T850 Fireliner Chassis $ 47,994.59 49,025.00 52,169.31 54,171. 39 59,471.39 I The Fire Chief pointed out that the Seagraves bid was incomplete, and he recommended that the best buy for the City of Eugene for the purpose for which it is intended is. that of Crown Coach Corporation. A tabulation was presented showing a comparison of certain items bid by Crown Coach and Western States indicating capabilities of meeting specifications. It was also pointed out that Western States had never constructed an elevating platform truck but had been quite successful in constructing pumper truc~s, whereas Crown Coach Corpora- tion has constructed 24 elevating platform fire fighting trucks. Repre- sentatives of Mobile Aerial Towers, Inc., manufacturers of Hi-Ranger hydraulic towers used on Western States apparatus, were present and quest ioned the information regarding their ability to meet specifica-. tions. e Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Hawk that this item be referred to the staff for further consideration. Motion carried unanimously. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that Item 2a of the Committee report be held over pending a recommendation from the staff. Motion carried, Dr. Purdy voting no. 1 b. Crash Rescue, Truck '- Two bids were. received: Yankee Walters Co. $ 47,370.00 Coast Apparatus Co. 48,860.00 Dr. Purdy moved seconded b~ Mr. Hawk:to approve the recommendation of the Fire Chief to purchase the truc~ from Yankee Walters Co. on their bid price of $47,370.00. Motion carried unanimously. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded. by Mr. Chatt that Item 2b of the Committee report be ap- proved. Rollcall vote. All councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. 2 c. Miscellaneous Fire Equipment - No action was taken on these bids, since purchase of the miscellaneous fire equipment hinges on the selection of the elevating platform truck. I Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that Item 2c of the Committee report be held over. Motion carried. 3 3. Amend City Sign Code - A letter from Aerolite Neon in behalf of the sign industry requested an immediate amendment to the Sign Code which would allow ground signs to be installed the same as projecting signs; i.e., over sidewalks. Permits in the past had been issued allowing ground signs to extend over the sidewalk, but a new interpretation of the Code prohibits such projection. e Mr. Hawk moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to amend the Sign Code as re- quested by the local sign industry. Right-of-Way Transfer to Lane County, Aubrey Road - The Lane County Com- missioners requested the City of Eugene to convey to Lane County the north 25 feet of the N~ of Section 5, T17S, R4W, from Pacific Highway 99 West to Greenhill Drive to provide a 65-foot right-of-way for Aubrey Road. The request is being made at this time to allow the Eugene Water & Electric Board to reconstruct an electric transmission line in the proper place along the south edge of the County road. I Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the request and authorize execu- tion of a deed conveying the 25-strip to Lane County. Rollcall vote.
