All councilmen pre~en~ voting aye, motion carried. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Committee meeting held February 27, 1964: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"Present: Councilmen Lauris (presiding), Chatt, Swanson, Christensen, Deverell, <br />Hawk, and Pur~y; City Manager; Assistant City ~anager; City Attorney; <br />City Recorder; Directo~ of Public Works; and others. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />1. Fire Truck Bids - The City Ma~ager read a letter of recommendation addressed <br />to the City Council wherein he listed four specific points on which he based <br />the recommendation to accept the bid of Crown Coach Corporation. Item l.was <br />the specification provision for maximum height of 11'3", Item 2 was the <br />specification requirement for submission of piping diagrams, Item 3 was the <br />consideration of overall braking surface rated in square inches of b~aking <br />surface, and Item 4 was the warranty accompanying the delivery of each com- <br />pleted fire t~uck. These and other minor pofnts in the two bids und~r con- <br />sideration were the basis for the recommendation to accept the Crown Coach <br />bid. <br /> <br />Mr. Christensen moved seconded by Mr. Swanson to accept the 10w bid (Western <br />States). <br /> <br />Much discussion followed among ~embers of the C04ncil, and.Mr. White, sales- <br />man for Western States, spoke in behalf of his company and product. <br /> <br />After further discussion, Mr. Hawk moved seconded by Mr. Deverell to table <br />the item for one week. Motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />At the close of the committee meeting after discussion of all other items <br />on the agenda, the City Manager asked the City Council for instructions on <br />what to present at the next meeting of the Committee of the Whole. Some <br />further discussion re:::ulted in a motion by Mr. Hawk seconded by Mr. Chatt to <br />issue a call for new bids on the fire equipment under consideratiQn. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt that Item 1 of the Committee report be approved. <br />Motion carried, Mr. Swanson voting no. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />2. United Air Lines Lease - The Assistant City Manager presented the terms <br />of the proposed agreement between United Air Lines and the City of <br />Eugene for rental of terminal building space and rental of baggage claim <br />area and the basis for levying flight fees at Mahlon Sweet Field. On the <br />basis of $3.00 per square foot, United will pay the City of Eugene $9,540 <br />each year for terminal building space; pay a portion of ~he $1,170 annual <br />charge for their share of the baggage claim area; and pay landing fees on <br />a schedule of $.08 per M lbs of maximum gross \anding weight for the first <br />four million pounds each month, $.07 per M lbs on tqe next four mil~ion <br />'pounds each month, and $.06 per M lbs on all in excess of eight million <br />pounds. <br /> <br />Mr. Christensen moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the terms of the <br />agreement. West Coast Air Lines Lease - The Assistant City Manager ~ead the terms of <br />the agreement between West Coast Air Lines and the City of Eugene for <br />rental of terminal building space at Mahlon Swe~t Field.
