r1() 6 e 8/10/64 I 1 10. One-way Traffic Broadway eastbound from Fillmore to Almaden-- It wa~'recom- mended~that when Broadway is opened from Fillmore to Almaden it .be:made one-way eastbound. Some discussion was held but no ~ction was taken~ Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Swanson that Item 10 be received and placed on file. Motion carried. 2 11. Federal Grant Sewage Treatment .Plant Additions:- The Council was requested to give authority for application.:for a:FederalGrantof $600,060 for addi- tion to the sewage treatment plant anda:~ewer iine necessitated by installa- . tion of Bethel,-Danebo sewer system. . Dr.: Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Hawk to approve the application. Motion carried. 3 12. Agreement with Cornell, Howland, Hayes & Merryfield, Design - The Council e was also requested for approvql :of a contract with Cornell, Howland, ,Hayes & Merryfield forth,e design of sewage :treatmerit plant. additions and sewer line :for the Bethel-Danebo sys'tem. The total project cost is estimated at $2:,:274,000, with CH2M 'b~ing paid on a pe~centage fee basis. Dr.Purdy moved. seconded .by Mr. Hawk to approve the contract. Motion carried. : 4 13. Pavirig alley between 19th and :20thfrom Patterson to north/south alley I betweenPattersori and Hilyard;: also alley between Patterson and Hiiyard from east/west alley between 19th and 20th:to 20th ~ The Public Works De- partment reported that Mr. Paul Bendix had petitioned the paving of these alleys' :and would pay the entire cost as was agreed at t,he: time the area at '20th and Patterson was rezoned in November' 1963. Mr. :Hawk moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the petition. Motion carried. 5 14. Blacktop. and Retaining Wa-11, Lew Williams', :Orchardbetween 15th arid Franklin - Lew Williams Chevrolet Co. requested permission to extend blacktop to the sidewalk along Orchard Street between 15th and Ffankliri Boulevard :and to build, a. retaining wall- about 18" x 130:. . the Council . . expressed the opinion ~hat there is not sufficient landscaping at this :location -and that more buffer plantings ar~ needed. Mr. Deverell meN ed sec'onded by Mr. Chatt 'to refer the item to the :staff with the idea that a more .aesthetic appearance might be developed. Motion carried. . 6 15. Sidewalk, Saratoga and Talisman, 8th'Addition to Edgewocici, Breeden - Breeden Bros. request permission to install sidewalk on one .side only at the: curb. on Saratoga Street. The Public Works Department recommended approval of the r~quest because of steep terrain, and also recommended :the same provisfon be :made for sidewalk on' Talis~an Street. Mr.= :Deverell moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to approve- the recommendation.: Motion carried. 7 16. ReliriquTsh Easement, EWEB :- The Eugene Water & E'lectric Board requested I a Quitclaim Deed .from'the Cify to: State F:inarice relinquishing a power - - line easement across property at the northwest corner of Coburg and Cal.
