The City Attorney said that an option co~ld be drawn whereby <br /> Giustina's could be asked to rededicate the land, at no cost to the City, <br /> if needed at some future time for street purpo~es. <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Christensen to approve the requested vaca- <br /> tion of 1st Avenue, with Giustina Bros. paying the appraised value of ~he <br /> land to be vacated, and that the City Attorney draw a 25-year option for <br /> rededication of the street at no cost to the City should it be required <br /> for street purposes in the future. Motion carried. <br /> e 1 b. Vacation alley running east from High between 7th and Sth, Weaver - The <br /> Planning Commission recommended approval of this vacation, subject to <br /> petitioner's granting a sewer easement for relocation of an lS-inch <br /> sewer line proposed in the future from the present Eugene Fruit Growers' <br /> line to the new High Street trunk s~wer. The Public Works Department <br /> reported that such rerouting would approximately double the cost, and <br /> the'developer should be required to pay any extr~ costs involved. Mr. <br /> I Weaver was present and offered to pay for the paving with concrete of an <br /> alley running from 7th to 8th Avenue .between High and Mill Streets, to <br /> City specifications, in lieu of paying the value of the land requested <br /> to be vacated (estimated at $6200 by the Public Works Department). <br /> Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Hawk to approve the vacation.subject <br /> to petiti.oner's granting a sewer easement as recommended, paying any <br /> extra C?sts involved in !erouting of sewer line, and supject to peti- <br /> tioner's paying for concrete paving to City specifications the north/ <br /> south alley between 7th, 8th, High, and Mill. Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Swanson to approve Items 4a and 4b of the Committee re- <br /> port. Rollcall vote. All councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> ~ 5. Right-of-way Coburg and Oakway Roads - The following options were presented <br /> for purchase of property to allow widening of Coburg and O?kway Roads: <br /> Vera Alice Anderson 950 Ooburg Road $ 500 <br /> Everett L. and Anne A. Hall 1175 Oakway Road 570 <br /> Eugene G. and Ruby V. Harlow 1215 Oakway Road 1360 <br /> Wesley Methodist Church 1385 Oakway Road 1330 <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Christensen to purchase the properties at <br /> the prices listed. Motion carried. <br /> I Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Swanson to approve Item 5 of the Committee repor~. Roll- <br /> call vote. All councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> 3 6. Right-of-way Co burg Road - I~ was explained there are nipeteep properties <br /> remaining to be acquired for widening Coburg Ro~d from Harlow Ro~d to the <br /> north City limits and on which agreement had not been reached with owners <br /> concerning purchase price. Council authority was requested for court . <br /> e action if needed for acquisition of the listed properties. Motion carried. <br /> 4' 7. Bid Opening Improvement Pro;ects - August 4, 1964 - A tabulation was pre- <br /> sented of bids opened August 4, 1964 on various street, sewer, and sidewalk <br /> projects in the City. Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to award con- <br /> tracts ~o the low bidder on each of the pr~jects. Motion carried. <br /> 5 8. One-way traffic 10th westbound - The City Manager recommended making 10th <br /> Avenue one~way westbound from Mill to Lawrence temporarily because of <br /> construction on 11th Avenue. The estimated cost for the change was $500. <br /> Mr. Christensen moved seconded by Mr. Hawk to approve the recommendation. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 6 9. One-way Traffic Broadway eastbound from Pearl to High - Because of traffic <br /> congestion at the intersection of Pearl and Broadway, it was recommended <br /> to continue Broadway one-way eastbound from Pearl to High. Mr.Christensen <br /> I moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve the recommendation. Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Swanson to appro ve Items 6, 7, 8, and 9 of the Committee <br /> report. Motion carried. <br /> S/10/64 - 10 <br /> e <br /> II ll~ <br />
