Vacation portion of Potter Street at East Amazon Drive - Mr. Fred <br /> Steinkamp had requested the vacation of a triangular shaped piece <br /> of property at the southeast corner of East 'Amazon Drive and Potter <br /> Street. The Public Works Department recommended the property be <br /> vacated subject to the owner's paying $362.50, the amount of the <br /> paving assessment on East Amazon Drive. The petitioner had re- <br /> quested permission to pay the $362.50 over a 10-year period in a <br /> manner similar to the Bancroft Act procedure. <br />e Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approv~ the vacation and permit payment <br /> of the assessment over a 10-year period. Motion carried. <br /> 2 3. Curb Cut, 11th at Pearl, Firestone Stores - Fireston~ Stores requested <br /> a curb cut the full length of their property abutting 11th Avenue at <br /> Pearl Street in conjunction with the widening of 11th Avenue because <br /> of the room needed by log trucks to turn into their property for servic- <br />I ing. The Public Works Department reco,mmended a 70-foot curb cut begin- <br /> ning 25 feet east of the alley between Oak and Pearl and a 30-foot curb <br /> cut beginning 30 feet east of the east end of the 70-foot cut. They <br /> also recommended that the property owner be notified that their ~xisting <br /> pumps be moved to allow sufficient clearance between them and the prop- <br /> erty line to allow servicing of vehicles without their having to be <br /> parked on City sidewalk. <br /> Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the recommendation of the Public <br /> Works Department. Motion carried. <br /> 3 4. Sanitary Sewer, Crest Drive School - School District No. 4 had requested <br /> the City to extend the sewer line to serve the new Crest Drive School. <br /> The Public Works Department reported it would be necessary to obtain an <br /> easement over unplatted property belonging to Mr. Ray Cheney, who has <br /> agreed to grant this easement providing the assessment for the sewer con- <br /> struction is deferred until the property is subdivided. The total cost <br /> estimated is $24,020, of which $15,820 would be assessed now against <br /> property of Mr. Cheney fronting on Lorane Highway, other property owners, <br /> School District No. 4, and the City of Eugene. The amount to be deferred <br /> which would ultimately be assessed against the unplatted property outside <br /> the City would be about $8,200, (at such t_ime as that' property is annexed). <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Swanson to proceed with the sewer construction requested <br />I by the School District, assessing the costs as recommended by the Public Works Depart- <br /> ment. Motion carried. <br /> . <br /> 4 5. Voters Pamphlet - The City Manager announced that October 2, 1964 will <br /> be the deadline for statements to be placeg in the vo~ers pamphlet <br /> which would be sent out on the two ballot measures for the November 3, <br /> 1964 election. <br />e Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Swanson to place a statement from the Council in the <br /> voters pamphlet in favor of the mall proposal. Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Swanson moved seconded by Mr. Hawk to incorporate the information in the statement <br /> made by the Eugene Water & Electric Board concerning fluoridation, in a condensed form, <br /> with a statement from the Council favoring fluoridation for the voters pamphlet. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 5 6. League of Oregon Cities Convention - Announcement was made of the League <br /> of Oregon Cities convention in Eugene on November 15-17, 1964. The City <br /> Manager stated the League office would be happy to receive any suggestions <br /> or ideas which could be used for topics in the convention. <br /> 6 7. Annexation Lot 9, Block 4, Calbrook' Addition (St. Paul's Church) - The <br /> City Manager stated a letter had been rece{ved from St. Paul's Catholic <br />I Church requesting the withdrawal of their annexation petition for Lot 9, <br /> Block 4, 1st Addition Calbrook (472 Satre Street). <br /> Mr. Crakes moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the request for withdrawal of the <br /> annexation petition.
