<br />to Mr. Kenneth Kohnen as a member of the Eugene Water & Electric :Bo~,d,

<br />2. Room Tax - Mayor Cone stated tha~ a ro~m tax on motels and, hotels had
<br />been suggested to raise money to support payments on a bond is:sue for
<br />'the construction of a stadium imthe North Bank Park, the bond issue to
<br />be the City's contribution toward the financing of this fac~~it~. Upon
<br />discussion by the Council, it was als.o suggested that ,financing of :the
<br />civic auditorium could be handled in"a 'similar manner by allocating a
<br />portion of a room tax to this project. Dr. Purdy moved seconded by
<br />Mr. Chatt that the staff study thiR proposal based on a stadium and
<br />civic auditorium as a combined project. Motion carried.

<br />3. House Moving - The City Manager read a report from th~ Pub~ic Works: Di-
<br />rector concerning control of house moving"'established by the City. The
<br />report recommended Code amendment to raise house moving inpsection fee
<br />to an amount which would cover the cost of inspection of el~ctrical: and
<br />plumbing requirements and gen'er'al'structural 's'oundness; also to prohibit
<br />joining two single-family dwellings with a roof to form a duplex ~nit. :
<br />It was also suggested that a definite time be established for completion
<br />of a structure at the time a house moving permit ,is issued,' and, tha't
<br />consideration should be given to increasing the amount of the s~rety
<br />bond to enforce the time limit. The staff was asked to prepa~e t~ese
<br />suggested revisions to. the Code for present~tion to the Council at a
<br />regular meeting;

<br />Speaking against the proposed annexation were:Messr~~ Al Henderson and Hines, ,both
<br />, living on East'43rd Avenue, and a Mr~ E. C. Whit~. Spe~in~ fo~:th~,annexation
<br />were Mrs. Ridenour and Mr. Meyers. After several questions which were answered by
<br />the City Manager, the Public Works Director, and the City Attorney, a vote was
<br />taken on the motion. Motion carried.
