<br />~ <br />247 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2/24/65 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Butte, Spencers Butte, and North Bank Parks by men on welfare who had <br />worked 137 days (1037 hours) during January. The report was filed. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />20. Municipal Court. Davidson - A letter was read from Mrs. Eugene David- <br />son, 489 Pinto Way, apologizing to Mayor Cone and the 'Council for her <br />criticism of the municipal court and Judge John Barber. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />21. Auditorium - Mr. Lee Bishop, president of the Lane County Auditorium <br />Association, in a letter dated February 1, 1965 and upon recommendation <br />of the Site and Access Committee of that Association, asked that offi- <br />cials of Lane County, Eugene, and University of Oregon authorize a <br />survey of the North Bank Park area with a view to presenting to the <br />public the locations for the various facilities which it is anticipated <br />might be placed on that site. . <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />22. Traffic. Broadway and Hilyard Intersection. Mill Street On-ramp to <br />Ferry Street Bridge (Co burg Road Bridge) - The State Highway Department <br />had been asked to make a survey of the traffic condit.ions at the inter- <br />section of Broadway and Hilyard, and on Mill Street at the on-ramp to <br />the Ferry Street Bridge for northbound traffic. As a result of their <br />investigation, the State Highway Department concluded in their letter <br />dated February 5, 1965 that the single left-turn lane at t~e inter- <br />section of Broadway and Hilyard is adequate and should be retained. <br />Also, that the State Highway Department would stripe the northbound <br />section of Mill Street between 8th Avenue and the gore point for the <br />ramp to relieve the congestion for vehicles approaching the ramp. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />23. International Festival Reception - A letter of invitation was read <br />from the Chamber of Commerce extending to all City and- County offi- <br />cials an invitation to attend the International Festival. Also, the <br />reception to be held Friday evening, February 19, at 11:00 p.m. i~ <br />the Eugene Hote, and the reception to be held at 11:00 p.m. at Gerlinger <br />Hall on Saturday, February 20. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />24. Urban-Rural Conference - The City Manager announced an Urban-Rural <br />Conference to be held in the home economics auditorium at Oregon State <br />University, Corvallis, Oregon, on February 25, 1965. Registrations <br />should be mailed to the Chamber of Commerce in Corvallis. <br /> <br />Communications in Items 30 through 24 were received and placed on file.1I <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Crakes that Items i9 through 24 of the Committee re- <br />port be received and placed on file. Motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />Rezoning area on west side Madison between 25th and 26th (Jensen)(65-002) - <br />Held over from the Council meeting on February 8, 1965 and now brought back, <br />this item had been recommended for denial but held on request of petitioner. <br />A Mr. Anderson, speaking on behalf of Mr. Jensen, now requested reconsidera- <br />tion of the recommendation to deny the requested R-3G zoning. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to deny the requ~sted rezoning. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />Segregation of Assessment. Vaughn - Mr. Earl J. Vaughn requested segregation <br />of assessment for paving Hayes Street on Lots 3 and 4, Block 9, Chambers <br />Addition. The total assessment of $811.52 was made against the two lots, <br />and segregation was requested to assess $405.76 to Lot 3, and $405.76 to <br />Lot 4. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve the segregation request. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />ORDINANCES <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />Council Bill No. 6941 - Levying assessments for sanitary sewer in Willakenzie Sanitary Sewer <br />Improvement District WS-63-3 was submitted and read in full on-February 8, 1965 and held over for <br />proper notice of assessment to be given owners of affected property and brought back for considera- <br />tion with no written protests on file. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris that the bill be read the second time by council bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried unanimously and the bill was read the <br />second time by council bill number only. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris that the rules be suspended and the bill read the third time <br />~ by council bill number only, with unanimous consent of the Council.
