Also, the Planning Council had requested replace- <br />ment of one of their automobiles which had been completely wrecked. <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to authorize expenditure <br />of funds to join with Lane County and Springfield in hiring a con- <br />sultant for the organizational study of the Central Lane Council <br />office, and for Eugene's proportionate share of replacing the <br />Council's (Central Lane Planning) wrecked automobile. Motion carried. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Hawk to approve Items 10 and 11 of the committee re- <br />port.Motion carried. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />12. Fluoridation - The city manager stated several letters had been re- <br />ceived opposing fluoridation or requesting de1ay.in fluoridation of <br />the water supply. No action was taken." <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Hawk that Item ~2 of the committee report be received <br />and placed on file. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Improvement petitions were presented as follows: <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />1. Paving north/south alley between 12th and 13th, Mill and Ferry - The petition <br />for this paving carried signatures of owners of 70% of the abutting property. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Hawk to approve the petition. Motion carried. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />2. Paving Madison from 28th to Lorane Highway - This petition carried signatures <br />of owners of 50% of the abutting property and also requested location of the <br />sidewalk at the curb. The petitioner also requested preservation of trees <br />which would necessitate moving the street centerline 4 feet east. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Hawk to approve .the petition, moving the street <br />centerline 4 feet east and permitting location of the .sidewa1k at the curb on the <br />east side of the street but standard location on the west side. Motion carried. <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />3. Paving Miramar from 53rd to north in 9th Addition to Edgewood - This petition <br />was submitted by Breeden Bros., owner of 100% of the property abutting the <br />project on the west side. Property abutting the east half of the street is <br />outside the City limits. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Dr.. Purdy to approve <br />the paving, subject to Breeden's agreeing to pay for the entire width. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />ORDINANCES <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />Council Bill No. 6985 ~ Levying assessments for sanitary sewer between 9th Place and 10th <br />Avenue from Arthur Street to Hayes Street, submitted and read the first time in full on March 8,1965 <br />and held over for proper notice of assessment to be given owners of affected property, was brought <br />back for consideration wjth no written protests on file. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Lassen that the bill be read the second time b~ council bill number <br />only, ~ith unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried unanimously and the bill was read the <br />second time by council bill number only. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Lassen that the bill be read the third time by council bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council. All councilmen present voting aye, the bill was declar~d passed and numbered 13820. <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />Council Bill No.. 6986 - Levying assessments for paving 23rd Avenue from Hilyard Street to Patter- <br />son Street; also widening Hilyard ptreet from 23rd Avenue to 24th Avenue, submitted and read the first <br />time in full on March 8, 1965 and held over for proper notice of assessment to be given owners of af- <br />fected property, was brought back for consideration with no written protests on file. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris. moved seconded by Mr. Lassen that the bill be read the second time by council bill number <br />only, with unanimous consent of the Council.
