Boe was read which requested the City's support of H.B.1478 which would in- :~rease, the ci~ies' share.of State liquor revenues. Dr. Purdy moved seconde~ by Mr. -L~ss~n to support the b~ll. Motion carried. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr:. Lass~n to approve Item 4 of the committee report. Motion carried. 2 5. Parking Restriction. Hilyard between 8th and Broadway - Mr. George Coffee, 820 ~ilyard Str~et, requested: l-hpur parking instead of 24- minute truck load,ing zone on Hilyard between 8th and Broadway. The public works department recommended ipstallation of a ~-hour park- .ing zone on. the ~~st side of Hilyard from 8th Avenue to the south about 82 feet,: which wo~ld provi9-e space for: three parking stalls. Mr.Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approv~ the recommendation.. MotiOn carried. e 3 6. Stop Signals., Railroad, Crossing Monroe Street -The public works de- partment recommended in~t~llation of a stop sign,: stopping traffic on Monroe Str~et at the Sputhern Pacific railroad crossing. Crossing Signals. ' SP&S, -At the request_of, the public works department, the Spoka!le, Pqrtland and Seattle Railway. Company, had their assistant engineer work with Eugene'straffi,c engineer to:make recommendations c~nce~ning protecti9n_for Oregpn, Electric crossings inside Eugene. The SPqcS set <?ut these_ recornI~J.(~ndattons in a letter addl;'essed to the public works director (dated February 19, 1965) for crossbuck signs and ad- vance warning and stop ~igns at the various crossings of the Oregon ,Elec~ric tracks. The Railway CQmpany asked assurance that:the City ~ould purc~ase, ~r~ct, and maintain the,stop and advance warning signs; the Railway Company.will:furoish the crossbuck'signs. The public:works department recommended authorization for the signing as set out by the SP&S, i~cluding the City's prQviding the:stop:signs:at the Bethel Drive crossing. Bendix - Mr.Paul :Bend~x r~q~ested a vari~nce frQm C-3P sidewalk requirements to allow Construction of sidewalk at the standard setback Location on Frontier Drive just west of Coburg Road. His request included permission to p'ut:plantings in the -parking strip. Central Lane Planning :Council - The city manager explained :that representatives ,of :Lane County, Springfield, and Eugene had di~cussed :and' recqrnmended :empl:oyment of a cons.ultant to make an organizational study of the Central Lane Planning C.ounci1.
