<br /> COMMITTEE REPORTS
<br /> Committee meeting July 21, 1965 (following Council meeting):
<br /> "Present: Mayor Cone; Councilman Chatt, Lauris, Crakes, Purdy, McNutt, and Lassen; City Manager;
<br /> City Attorney; Assistant City Recorder; Administrative Assistant; Director of Public
<br /> Works; and others.
<br /> 1 1. Paving Hilyard from 13th to 23rd - The Public Works Director explained problems involved
<br /> in the original construction of Hilyard Street and the asphaltic concrete overlay planned
<br /> for the street. The overlay cost was estimated at $7000 or $8000. The Public Works De-
<br /> partment had called for quotations on the project and was requesting the Council's per-
<br /> mission to proceed with the project when the quotations were opened on July 22, 1965.
<br /> Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to proceed with the overlay on Hilyard as out-
<br /> lined. Motion carried.
<br /> Mr. Crakes moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to approve Item 1 of the Committee report. Motion carried, all
<br /> councilmen present voting aye.
<br /> I 2 2. Planning Commission Report - June 28. 1965
<br /> a. Annexation 4722 Fox Hollow Road, Jackson (65-089) - The Planning Commission recom-
<br /> mended approval of this petition for annexation. However, .two property owners
<br /> whose land would be completely encircled by the City upon completion of the annexa-
<br /> tion had been notified of the impending action, and one of these property owners
<br /> had indicated his objection. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Lassen' to approve
<br /> the petition for annexation. Motion carried.
<br /> e 3 b. Variance 2387 Willamette. Bonson ( 65 -001) - A request for variance from regulations
<br /> on the R-BG.District to allow use of the property for business office was tabled in
<br /> the Planning Commission in January pending submission of plans by Mr. Bonson. Since
<br /> that time nothing had been submitted by Mr. Bonson, and the Planning Commission now
<br /> recommends denial of the request. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to deny
<br /> the request. Motion carried.
<br /> 4 c. Rezoning to R-3, 795 West 18th. Wilcox (65-032) - This request had been tabled in
<br /> the Planning Commission in April for further study. Since that time the property
<br /> has been sold, and the Planning Commission now recommends denial of the requested
<br /> rezoning. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to deny the request. Motion
<br /> carried.
<br /> With regard to Item 2a, Annexation 4722 Fox Hollow Road, a letter of protest from Mr. Daniel W. Morris,
<br /> 4680 Fox Hollow Road, was filed.
<br /> I Mr. Crakes moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to approve Items 2a, 2b, and 2c of the Committee report. Mo-
<br /> tion carried.
<br /> 5 3. Parking Prohibition, Moss from 13th to 15th - The City Manager explained t_hat :Safeway
<br /> Stores, Tom Williams Florist, and University of Oregon had requested prohibition of
<br /> parking on the east side of Moss from 13th to 15th. The Public Works Department recom-
<br /> mended approval, stating Moss Street is only 32 feet wide. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded
<br /> by Mr. McNutt to prohibit parking on the eqst side of Moss Street from 13th Avenue to
<br /> It 15th Avenue. Motion carried.
