Davis requested Council ap- , <br />proval as required by the State of motor vehicle wrecker business license previously <br />issed to him dba J&J Mot,ors and which he now desires changed to John Davis Auto Parts. <br />The business is located at the same address, 3808 West llth, and the firm name is the <br />only change in the licensing. Rezone to C-}Parea between Coburg and OakwavRoads, McKay - This item will come be- <br />fore a joint Planning Commission-Council meeting on Tuesday, January 18, 1966, at <br />the Eugene Hotel, at noon. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />12. Lecture Series. City Problems - Literature was distributed describing a proposed <br />six-week lecture series on "What's, Wrong With The City", sponsored by the Chamber <br />of Commerce and the Division of Continuing Education. The lectures will be held <br />at the Thunderbird Motel beginning Monday, January 17, 1966. <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />l3. State Welfare Commission - A meeting of the Oregon State Public Welfare Commission <br />is scheduled for Friday, January 28, 1966 at 9:30 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce <br />in Albany, Oregon. The Council is invited and will be given an opportunity to ask <br />questions and make suggestions concerning the programs, problems, and goals of pub- <br />lice welfare in Oregon." <br /> <br />Mr. Hawk moved seconded by Mrs.' Lauris to approve Item 10 of the Committee report, and to received and <br />file Items 11, l2, and 13. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Committee meeting held January 20, 1966: <br /> <br />"Present: Mayor Cone; Councilmen Chatt, Lauris, Crakes, Purdy, McNutt, and Lassen; City <br />Manager; Asst. City Manager; Administrative Assistant; City Attorney; City Re- <br />corder; Public Works Director; and others. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />1. Lease Assignment, Laurelwood Supper Club - Don Adams of Laurelwood Supper Club had <br />requested as~ignment of his lease. The application of Dorothy L. Johnson and <br />Russell P. Doren having been accepted, it was recommended their lease assignment <br />become effective February 1, 1966. No action was taken. <br /> <br />No action taken on Item 1 of the Committee report. Deferred until consideration of Resolution l257. <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />2. Widening 6th and 7th Avenues - Copies of an agreement were presented between Oregon <br />State Higpway' Department and the city of Eugene for the proposed widening of 6th and <br />7th Avenues to allow three through lanes of traffic with intermittent parking and a <br />fourth lane for turning. Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to approve the agree- <br />ment. Motion carried. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />3. Parking Prohibition. Railroad Boulevard from VanBuren to River Road - The Public Works <br />Department recommended prohibition of parking at the north curb of Railroad Boulevard <br />from VanBuren Street to River Road. Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to ap- <br />prove the recommendation. Motion carried. <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />4. Taxi Zone, 8th Avenue west of Willamette - The Public Works Department recommended <br />that the recently established taxi zone on 8th Avenue just west of Willamette Street <br />be removed and parking meters replaced for two stalls. Mr. Crakes moved seconded <br />by Mr. Lassen to approve the recommendation. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Hawk moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to approve Item 2 of the Committee report. <br /> <br />Otto Poticha, architect, suggested the signing of the agreement be delayed until presentation of the <br />comprehensive overall traffic plan was completed and reviewed by the City Council. Dr. Robert Feeney <br />also recommended a delay until the Council had studied the comprehensive plan to be sure the proposed <br />project would work in with the overall traffic plan. <br /> <br />A vote was taken on the motion to approve Item 2, and motion carried, Messrs. Hawk, Chatt, Purdy, <br />Anderson, and Lassen voting yes; Mrs. Lauris yoting no. <br /> <br />Mr. Hawk moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve Items 3 and 4 of the Committee report. Motion carried. <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br />5. Planning Commission Report - January 4, 1966 <br />a. Rezone to C-3P SW corner Echo Hollow Road and Barger. Fish (65-120) - The flan- <br />ning Commission recommended that this area,be rezoned from RA Outer Re~iden~ial <br />to C-3P. Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to approve the request. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br />b. Rezone to C-2 portion of Tax Lot 7800 (l8-03-08-2.4)(3443 Hilyard Street), <br />Balzhiser (66-014) - The Planning Commission recommended approval of Thomas <br />Balzhiser's request to rezone fromR-3G an additional 20 feet on the south <br />side of existing C-2 zone at 3443 Hilyard Street.
