<br />Development Agency, presented copies of the goals and policy statement of the' Agency,
<br />and recommended that the membership of the Agency be increased to seven. Coptes of
<br />minutes of all meetings of ,'the Agency were presented for review and discussion. After
<br />hearing some discussion with regard to the hiring of an Agency executive director,
<br />Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris that the Agency proceed with hiring an execu~

<br />1. EIDC Support" Downtown Development - A le_tter was read from F_red B:renne, Secretary-_
<br />manager of th'e' Eugene Industrial Development 'Corpo'rail,on', stating that ,that_Corpora-
<br />tion, through its Board of Directors, 'is 'very willing to co-operate with t'he Eugene
<br />Development Agency" the Eugene City Council, 'and the Eugene Chamber of 'Commerce to
<br />support the downtowri development program. In addition, the letter stated 'the EIDC
<br />has made available $35,000 to be used as needed for preliminary stages of the pro-
<br />gram, the fu'nds to 'be 'under the supergiSion of Glen Porter, chairman of the newly
<br />formed Downtown Development Committee of the Chamber of Commerce. MenDers of the
<br />Council present expressed their appreciation for this co-operation.

<br />2. Annual Audit - Copies of the annual audit made by'Winn& Co. foithe fiscal year
<br />ended June 30, 1965 were distributed to Council members... The City Manager called
<br />attention'to several items, and criticisms by the auditing firm' concerning inadequate
<br />maintenance of some of 'the' City's records. With the assistance of Winn & Co. auditors
<br />and subsequent correction and change of accounting procedures, a further st~tement
<br />after the audit for the quarter ended September 30, 1965 gave the opinion of Winn & Co.
<br />that the deficiencies shown by the audit for 1965 had been largely corrected and should
<br />all be cleared up and corrected before the end of th~ c:u,rrent fiscal year ,ol! June 30,1966.
