<br />1. Sanitary Sewer, 1st Avenue from Lawrence east to alley - The Public Works Department
<br />reconunended installation pf a new 8-inch sanitary sewer to replace an existing 4-inch
<br />private sewer on the south side of 1st Avenue from Lawrence Street east to the ~lley.
<br />The existing line is too shallow to allow sidewalk and curb improvement. Dr. Purdy
<br />,moved seconded by Mr. Hawk to proceed with the sewer installation as recommended.
<br />Motion carried.

<br />2. Finishing Library Basement -, Tom McKeigue, chairman of the Library Board, requested
<br />Council approval of expenditure of $30,000 to finish 2500 square feet of space in the
<br />Library basement to make it available ,for public use. Appli~ation for a Federal
<br />grant of $10,000 can be made if local funds are available for the balance. Mr.McKeigue
<br />suggested $10,000 be, all'ocated from the Personal Services section of the Library budget,
<br />and $10,000 be transferred from the Emergency Fund to make up the local funds. He also
<br />stated that the application must be submitted by March 15, 1966 as Federa~ funds will
<br />not be available after June 30, 1966 if the program is not renewed. Dr. Purdy moved
<br />seconded by Mr. Crakes to approve the Library project as reconunended. Motion carried.

<br />3. Paving and Sanitary Sewer Hester Subdivision - Petitioned by owners of 100% of prop-
<br />erty to be assessed. Storm sewers are estimated at $3100. Mr. Lassen moved seconded
<br />by Mr. Hawk to approve the petition subject to an understanding with the subdivider
<br />that he may be asked to participate in the cost of storm sewer. installation. Motion
<br />carried.

<br />4. Paving and Sanitary Sewer in Foxcroft Subdivision; also paving 34th from Grant to
<br />east margin of Foxcroft Subdivision, and Grant from 34th to south margin of Foxcroft
<br />Subdivision - Petitioned by owners' of 88% of property to be assessed. Storm sewer
<br />installation estimated at $6500. Mr. Hawk moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to approve
<br />the petition subject to an advance payment by the subdivider of applicable engineer-
<br />ing charges and an understanding that the subdivider may be asked to share in storm
<br />sewer and pumping station costs. Motion. carried. '"
