<br /> 1 7. Assessment Deferral. Sanitary sewer between Oakway and Coburg from Tomahawk Court
<br /> to Cal Young (WS-64-4), Roop - The City Manager explained that a building site is
<br /> available on Fred S. Roop's property at 2415 Tandy Turn. The staff could not
<br /> justify a deferral of the assessment, amounting to $1,575.83, and recommended it
<br /> proceed in the normal manner. It was further indicated the staff would work with
<br /> Mr. Roop to develop the back part of his property. Mr. Anderson moved, seconded
<br /> by Mr. Lassen, the request for deferral of assessment be denied. Motion carried.

<br /> 2 8. Design. Cal Young Road, Oakway to Coburg - The design for street construction on {,..;o,7-(;,'-'
<br />e Cal Young Road was discussed in general by the Committee. It was decided to delay
<br /> formal action on this item until the staff has explored the possibility of obtain-
<br /> ing additional right-of-way for curb sidewalk with theintent to save the trees.
<br /> Also, until the staff has time to check out the possible life of the trees.
<br /> Mrs. Lauris moved, seconded by Mr. Chatt, to hold this item for discussion with Item 8 of June 9,1966
<br /> Committee report. Motion carried.
<br />I 3 9. Property Purchase, east of Oakway and north of Oakmont - The City Manager explained
<br /> that the City could purchase the McKay property east of Oakway and north of Oakmont
<br /> for $7310 per acre, plus the sewer assessment, bringing the total cost per acre to
<br /> $8620. He also informed the Committee the City has received two appraisals on this
<br /> property - one at $5000 per acre, and one at $15,000 per acre, while Mr. McKay has
<br /> received one appraisal at $10,500 per acre. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr.Ander-
<br /> son that the City Manager be authorized to sign an option for $7310 per acre to hold
<br /> this property, with the further understanding the City would pay the sewer assessment.
<br /> Motion carried."

<br /> 4 1. Widening 11th Avenue - A letter was read from Dr. Robert Feeney, 750 East 11th
<br /> Avenue, asking for a rehearing on the East 11th widening project. A petition
<br /> was presented which contained approximately 237 names of people who live and work
<br /> along East 11th who are protesting the improvement of the portion of 11th from
<br />I High to Kincaid. H. V. Johnson, attorney representing Northwest Christian College,
<br /> distributed copies of a letter to Council members and staff outlining the effect
<br /> of the proposed improvement on Northwest Christian College. During discussion by
<br /> the Council it was suggested that since award of bids on the proposed widening
<br /> had been delayed until June 27, 1966, the proper time to again hear any arguments
<br /> pro and con would be at that time. No action was taken.
<br /> Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to bring this item back to the Council meeting on June 27,
<br /> 1966. Motion carried.
<br />e 5 2. Airport Fueling Policy - After a hearing on May 17, 1966 with fixed base operators,
<br /> oil company distributors, and corporate aircraft owners, the Airport CommissiOn
<br /> recommended the adoption of a statement of policy regarding installation of air-
<br /> craft fueling facilities at Mahlon Sweet Municipal Airport. The policy provides
<br /> for the ownership of fueling facilities by tenants using more than 20,000 gallons
<br /> of fuel per year in their own aircraft. Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Anderson
<br /> to approve adoption of the policy statement. Motion carried.

<br /> 6 3. Application, Fixed Base Operator, Lane - The Airport Commission recommended approval
<br /> of the application of James A. Lane, Jr., dba Eugene Aviation, Inc. , for a. fixed
<br /> base operator's lease at Mahlon Sweet Field. Mr. Chatt moved seconded by 'Mr. Lassen
<br /> to approve the' recommendation. Motion carried.
<br /> 7 4. Planning Commission Report - May 23, 1966
<br />I a. Street Right-of-Way between West Hillside Drive and Manzanita Street extended -
<br /> The Planning Commission recommended extension of this street right-of-way
<br /> through Lot 52, 2nd Addition to Sunny Hollow. Mr. Anderson moved seconded by
<br /> Mr. Hawk to approve the acquisition of right-of-way through the lot for exten-
<br /> sion of the street. Motion carried.
<br /> 8 b.Street Name Changes ~ Wallace to,Wallis, Cambridge to Pembroke. Morse Street -
<br /> The Planning Commission recommended the name "Wallace Street" be changed to
<br /> ''Wallis Street~' "Cambridge Street" to"Pembroke Street", and that the north/
<br />e south street between Bethel Drive and Edison Street be named "Morse Street".
<br /> Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to approve the proposed name changes.
<br /> Motion carried.
