Petitions for off-street Parking District: Petitions for a propo~ed off-street park- <br /> e ing assessment d~strict for parking facility at the northwest and southwest corners <br /> of 10th and Oak were presented to the Council. The petitions represented 54.15% of <br /> the land area of ,the ,assessment district, and 64.93% of the assessed value. Mr. Chatt <br /> moved seconded .by: Dr., P.urdy to receive. the 'petitions and dir:e'ct t'he City Manager to <br /> , p.repare a report., Mo.tion carried. <br />2 2. Police Services. University of Oregon - An agreement was presented providing for police <br /> protection for. t1W University of Oregon fr:om September 3,1966 to' Septembe.r 2, 1967 for <br /> q total of $33,3Q2.7a., The proposed agreement provides that one meter maid will be de- e <br /> leted from service, and one full-time detective will be added as compared to the 1965-66 <br /> agreement. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the agreement. Motion. <br /> carried. .' , <br /> , <br /> Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to approve Items l:and 2 of the Committee report. Clancy, 3030 County Farm Road, was recognized and spoke about problems with college students <br /> who are employed by the City as inspectors during the summer. He stated they are frequently absent <br /> from the job and often wqrk has to be done '.over because of inadequate inspection. The Public Works <br /> Director replied that specific instances of absenteeism or.pther violations by studnet inspectors <br /> should be reported to th~ Public Works Department. <br /> ,'I .. <br />3 3. Curb 'Sidewalk. Northwest Corner 27th and Wil1amette. Korstad - Warren Korstad requested <br /> permission to construct a sidewalk adjacent to his property at 27th and Wi11amette at <br /> the curb with the inside edge dropped two to three inches. He stated .that the slope of <br /> ~he street caused dirt and silt to. settle in his driveway. The Public Works Department <br /> recommended denial of the request based an the denial of similar requesrn from praperty <br /> owners 'in that block, and because a majority of the sidewalks are naw constructed adja- <br /> ~~nt to the praperty lines. During the discussion it was suggested:a better solution <br /> might be constructian af a catchbasin in the driveway with undergruund drainage into. a <br /> storm sewer. Mrs. Lauris maved seconded by Mr. Chatt. to. deny the request.: Mat.ion <br /> carried. <br /> . <br /> Mr. Crakes entered the Committee meeting. <br />4 4. Widening and Signalization of 11th at McKinley. City View. and Seneca - A traffic study <br /> af 11th Avenue fr:om Garfield Street west was discussed. Based on the study, the Public <br /> Works Department recommended authorization be given to' pursue the design far paving 11th <br /> fram Garfield (a .Paragon Road, and that a stage construction program be authorized for I <br /> 48-faat paving width fram Garfield to .'Seneca Raad during the 1967-68 canstructian season. <br /> The Public Works.Dep~rtment also recommended signalization of the McKinley Street inter- <br /> section and consideration af possible signalization of City View and Seneca Road inter-. <br /> sections during.~he 1967-68 fiscal year. Mrs.Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to. ap- <br /> prove the plan. recommended by the Publ'ic Work's Department.
