<br /> Adjourned meeting of the Common Council of the city of Eugene, Oregon - adjourned from the regular
<br /> meeting held September 12, 1966 - was called to order at 8:30 p.m. PDT on September 26, 1966 in the
<br /> Council Chamber by His Honor Mayor Edwin E. Cone with the following councilmen present: Mr. Hawk,
<br /> Mrs. Lauris, Messrs. Chat t , Crakes, Purdy, McNutt, Anderson, and Lassen.
<br /> Minutes of the meeting held September 12, 1966, as mailed to Council members, were approved.
<br /> NEW BUSINESS
<br /> 1 Chlrine Price Fixing Suit - State of Oregon - A letter was read from the State Attorney General re-
<br /> porting that a treble-damage suit will be filed on behalf of the State against suppliers of chlorine,
<br /> charging price fixing in violation of the Federal antitrust laws during the period between 1955 and
<br /> e 1964, and explaining procedures to be used by cities and water districts which desire to join in
<br /> filing suit. It was explained that cities and water districts may file- independent suits or join
<br /> with the State and retain Lee A. Freeman, Esq. , Chicago, Illinois, who is the counsel for a number
<br /> of cities. Cost to the City, if joining with Oregon, would be a contingency fee of 20 percent of
<br /> the recovery, plus a maximum of $2000 in costs to be prorated among the co-plaintiffs in proportion
<br /> to their chlorine purchases.
<br /> I Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Dr. Purdy that the city of Eugene join with the State in filing suit
<br /> and that Lee A. Freeman be retained as counsel. Rollcall vote. All councilmen present voting aye,
<br /> motion carried.
<br /> 2 Bids - Public Works Improvement Projects, Opened September 20, 1966. Tabulation of bids submitted

<br /> bid call be issued on the two sidewalk projects. Rollcall vote. All councilmen present voting aye,
<br /> e motion carried.
