Liquor Licenses - Approved by the Police Department: <br /> <br />Retail Malt Beverage Class A - Torgeson and Tuttle, 20 Highway 99N <br />Change of Ownership - Fprmerly Oldham's Cafe <br /> <br />Emerald Empire Baseball Club, 200 Maple Street <br />Bethel Park - Renewal <br /> <br />Walter Hafdahl, 776 Blair Boulevard <br />No trade name - New <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to recommend approval of the licenses. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Also presented was an application for Package Store Class B license by Allan J. and Jean A. Anderson, <br />29th Street Market, 2890 Willamette Street, formerly. Lloyd Cooper, and approved by the Police Depart- <br />ment. <br /> <br />,I <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to recommend app~oval of all of the license applications. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />15. Skinner's Butte Cross (Lowe vs City of Eugene) - A report from the City Attorney <br />was submitted giving a chronological review of legal action ,in this case beginning <br />with Circuit Court Judge Fort's filing of his Opinion on January 5, 1967. Con- <br />siderable discussion followed; no action was taken. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. McNutt that Item 15 of the Committee report be received and filed. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />16. S.B.36l, Plumbing Code - This measure, if enacted, provides th~t any city which has <br />adopted the Western Plumbing Officials Code and which maintains satisfactory plumb- <br />ing inspection procedure would be granted the privilege of exemption from jurisdic- <br />tion of the State Board of Health or State laws with respect to plumbing regulations. <br />The bill was introduced at the request of the city of Eugene so that cities may al- <br />low more modern plumbing methods and materials i~ construction under their jurisdic- <br />tion. Mr. McNutt moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to support the legislation. Motion <br />carried." <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris, moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to approve Item~,lq of,the Committee report. <br /> <br />Councilman Anderson questioned support of the legislation until absolute proof is submitted showing <br />newer materials are as good as those now used. Councilman Purdy asked how many cities have adopted <br />the Western Plumbing Officials Code and was told a list would be furnished. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A vote was taken on the motion to approve support of the legislation, and motion carried, Messrs. <br />Anderson and McDonald voting no. <br /> <br />Mayor Cone returned to the meet~ng and assumed the Chair. <br /> <br />ORDINANCES <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />CouncilBill No. 7865 - Levying assessments for paving alley between 7th Avenue and 8th Avenue <br />from VanBuren Street to Blair Boulevard, submitted and read the first time in full on January 23, <br />1967 and h~ld over to this meeting to allow proper notice of assessment to be given owners of af- <br />fected properties, is now brought back for consideration. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />One letter of protest was received from Mrs. Kenneth R. Carter and Mrs. Mary E. Carter, 971 West 8th <br />Avenue.
