<br />Slocum, owners of property south of Utopia Street, stated vacation of the street would take access
<br />away from their pr,operty. Roger Chrysler, '2330 McGregor, also protested thevacatilOin because of
<br />proper acdess ~o pro~~rties iri the ar~a. .

<br />'The Planning Director said the Planning Commission recommended the vacation based upon a staff report.
<br />He said the street is very steep, and access can be provided to the area by other streets ~heri prop-
<br />erty to the south is developed. Clifford Shields, petitioner for vacation of the street, said that
<br />in addition to' Utopia Street itself he'i'ng st'eep, 'it ,would: create very steep slopes' on' abutting 'lots. -
<br />Ray Wiley, ,15.15 Larkspur Loop, also 'spoke in favor of the vacation. '

<br />Councilman Wingard suggested the planning staff work with the Slocums 'in the 'development of their
<br />property before access is taken from it by vacating Utopia S~reet. Dr. Slocum said they would be
<br />pleased to work out a plan for ~tie property, but' still opposed the vacation of Utopia Street unles~
<br />a public right-of-way is re-established on City View to provide ,access.
