Motion carried, all councilmen present voting aye. <br /> COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Committee meeting held July 27, 1967: <br />. <br /> "Present: Mayor Cone; Councilmen Purdy, Anderson, Lassen, Hayward, McDonald, and Wingard; <br /> City Manager and staff; and others. <br />I 1 1. Film on City Government - Council members previewed a film "City Government in Action" <br /> made by Will Trumbull of KVAL-TV, using subjects in the city of Eugene to demonstrate <br /> the workings of municipal government. Mr. Trumbull said he will distribute the film <br /> nationally. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris that Item 1 of the Committee report be received and fi led. <br /> Motion carried. <br />e 2 2. School/Park Properties - The Parks & Recreation Director showed slides of properties <br /> in various sections of the City which have been acquired by School District 4. The' <br /> District has' asked for the Council's desires with regard to joint use of 'these areas <br /> so that the District may know which properties to hold for future development. No <br /> action was taken. Written recommendation on each property is to be submitted by the <br /> Parks Department. <br /> Discussion turned to rates for water used for the park areas and the possibility of <br /> obtaining from. the Eugene Water & Electric Board a reduction of the present metered <br /> rate. Also discussed was EWEB's payment to the City in lieu of taxes. . Dr. Purdy <br /> moved seconded by Mr. Anderson that the staff gather information with regard to City <br /> expenditures' for water and electricity with the idea of working out lower rates or <br /> increased EWEB payment. Motion carried. <br /> 3 3. PUC Application. Washington-Jefferson Overhead Crossings. 5th Avenue - Copt'of the <br />I state of Oregon's application to the Public Utilities Commissioner for overhead cross- <br /> ing of the Oregon Electric tracks on 5th Avenue by the Washington-Jefferron bridge ex- <br /> tensions was presented. Formal objections, if any, must be' filed with the Commis- <br /> sioner within 30 days. Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Anderson that no objections <br /> be filed. Motion carried. <br /> 4 4. Fire Alarm System. University of Oregon - Copy of an agreement between the City and <br /> the University was presented covering terms under which City and University fire <br /> alarm systems will be 'installed and operated. Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr.Anderson <br />e to approve the agreement.
