Gradall Purchase - The Public Works De~artment took bids on a piece of heavy equipment <br /> to be used for' cleaning the Amazon, major drainage ditches in the Willakenzie and Bethel- <br /> Danebo areas, and roadside ditches. The Department recommended purchase of a Gradall <br /> for $41,766 fob factory. <br /> Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to purchase the equipment as recommended. Ro'llcall 'vote. <br /> All councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> 3 5. Paving alley Willamette and McMillan, 22nd tOo 23rd '- Petitioned by owners' of 55% of <br /> the proper~y to'be assessed. The Public Works Depart.ment recommended construction <br /> this year ~- An apartme'nt' house abuts one side, withprope'rties on both sides to be e <br /> ~ssessed for th~ pav~ng. A retaining wall, necessary before the alley can be paved. <br /> is being built by the property owner. <br /> Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to approve the petition. Speed, South Willamette '- A report was read from the State Speed Control Board ptoposing <br /> a30mph speed'on Willamette from 20th to 40th, and 40mph from 40th to 300 feet south of I <br /> Coachman Drive. The staff concurs with the'State's recommendation. <br /> Dr. Purdy moved' seconded by'Mr. Anderson to approve the recommended'speeds. Motio i1 carriea: <br /> 5 7. United Appeal Lease, - The leas~ has expired whereby United Appeal used office space in <br /> the Citi Hall in return for paying the cost of fin~shing the' rooms they are occupyin'g. <br /> It was' recoinmended the lease'De renewed 'to July 1, 1968 for $100 per mo'nth., <br /> Dr. Purdy moved~econded by Mr., Anderson to approve the lease. Motion carried. <br /> 7 9. Variance Extension, York - Gordon YOFk requested another extension of the variance <br /> which would allow a small an irria 1 hospital at 1247 Villard. He has not started con- I <br /> struction because of negotiation with the University of Oregon on purchase of the <br /> property. <br /> Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Anderson'to extend the variance for one year. Motion carried: <br /> 8 10. Commendation, Parks - A letter was read from the Eugene Swim and Tennis Club commend- <br /> ing the Parks Department for 'its co-operation on the Northwest AAU Swim'Meet he~d 'at <br /> the Club. <br /> 9 11. Oregon Tax Policy Institute - Announcement was made 'of the Oregon Tax Policy Institute '_ <br /> to be-held at ,th~ University of ~reg6n on Sepiembei 7 and 8,'1961.
