Motion <br />carried, Mr. McNutt voting no. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to approve Item 3 of the Committee report. <br /> <br />Patrick Flynn reviewed the history and background of Mrs. Christensen's suit against Aetna Life In- <br />surance Company and hiring of the Fire Fighters Association attorney to pursue her claim. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Lassen moved seconded by Mrs. Hayward to amend the motion to pay $1,500.00 of the attorneys fees, <br />the funds to be included in the 1968-69 budget. Rollcall vote. All councilmen present voting aye, <br />motion carr,ied. <br /> <br />A rollcall vote was taken on the original motion as amended. All councilmen present voting aye, the <br />motion as amended carried. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />4. Improvement Petitions <br />a. Paving 2nd, Madison to Monroe - 50% <br />b. Paving alley between 3rd and 4th, Polk to Blair - 33% <br />c. Paving Firland, Agate to Spring Boulevard - 50% <br />d. Paving Hayes, 17th to 18th - 50% <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to approve the .petitions. Motion carried. <br /> <br />e. Paving McLean from Chambers to Douglas Drive - 55% (and purchase of right-of-way) - <br />The City Manager said a remonstrance petition was received from owners of property <br />abutting McLea? between Lindsay Loop and ~ouglas Drive, but even taking that peti- <br />tion into consideration there are still owners of 57% of the property inthat <br />section who favor the improvement. Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mrs. Hayward to <br />approve the paving. Motion carried. <br /> <br />f. Paving, sanitary and storm sewer, Gillilan Subdivision (Sorrel to Coburg.Road)- <br />100% - The Public Works Department recommended ordering traffic signals for the <br />new intersection, for which $13,000.00 has been budgeted" because of an anticipated <br />six- to nine-month period before they are received. Dr. Purdy moved seconded by <br />Mr. Lassen to approve. Motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to approve Item 4 of the Committee report. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mrs. Harlon Coxen, 2380 McLean Boulevard, called attention to a petition previously submitted asking <br />deletion of the portion between Lindsay Loop and Douglas Drive. The Manager explained that even with <br />that petition owners of only 27% of the properties o~posed ,the project. . <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />5. Driveway, 150 North Cleveland - Council members viewed the site at 150 North Cleveland <br />prior to the meeting where driveway replacement was requested. A report was presented <br />from the Public Works Department together with a chart showing variations occurring in <br />paving projects and reconstruction procedures employed. Because of potential unlimited <br />expense involved if this procedure is relaxed, it was recommended that there be no change <br />in present policy. Mr. Lassen moved seconded by Mr. Wingard not to replace the drive- <br />way at 150 North Cleveland. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to approve Item 5 of the Committee report. Motion carried. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />6. Sewage Treatment Plant, Digester Modifications - The Council was asked for authoriza- <br />tion to waive bid procedure and employ Steel Structures, Inc., to furnish and install <br />eight new digester heat exchanger panels in the Sewage Treatment Plant at a cost of <br />$8,447.00. Steel Structures installed the original equipment, and the heat exchanger <br />panels are deemed necessary to gain proper operation of the digesters. Mr. McNutt <br />moved seconded by Mrs. Hayward to authorize the work as requested. Motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson moved second~d by Mr. Lassen to approve Item 6 of the Committee report.
