The Public Works <br /> Director said contractors now have the option of bidding onsteel pipe for storm sewers <br /> only, but that bids are never submitted on that basis. Paving Madison, 30th to 31st - Petitioned by owners of 56.5% of abutting properties. <br /> The Public Works Department reported that about 25% of the front footage is outside <br /> the City which would result in a deferred assessment of about $1,000.00. It was <br /> recommended not to proceed with the project until the right-o~-way is cleared and <br /> Ii both sides can be assessed. Mr. McNutt moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to reject the <br /> petition. Motion carried. <br />4 3. Paving Broadview, Hawkins Heights to Sunrise - Petitioned by owners. of 100% of. abut- <br /> ting properties. It was explained that it is too late to prepare this project for <br /> construction this year, and recommended that the petition be held and included with <br /> next year's projects. Mr. Lassen moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to approve the peti- <br /> tion and hold theproject for construction in 1969. Meyer, owner of property on Minda Drive just west <br /> 1, <br /> " of Elsena Drive, refuses to dedicate right-of-way for this project on which the con- <br /> tract award was held pending acquisition of right-of-way. The Public Works Director <br /> !: explained that the Department is reluctant to buy property for residential streets <br /> " adjacent to land where the City will eventually acquire the right-of-way through plat- <br /> ting. The project includes improvement of Long Island Drive and will serve as a con- <br /> " nector between Norkenzie and Gilham. A sewer easement is also required through the <br /> ! property. Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mrs. Hayward to negotiate for the sewer . <br /> " easement through the property in question, and pave all but the property involved. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> The Public Works Department reported that the sewer easement was obtained, but it is now recommended <br /> to install the sewer and pave only that half of the street on which the right~of-way has been dedicated. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to approve the recommendation. Oversize Curb Cut, 1895 McLean Boulevard - Raymond Rexius requested a 50-foot curb cut <br /> at this address to allow proper use of the existipg driveway. The Public Works Depart- <br /> ment recommended approval because of the contour of the land and driveway construction. <br /> Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to approve the oversize curb cut. Bids, Skinners Butte Park Plant Materials, Opened July 8, 1968 - The Parks and Recreation <br /> Director reported only one bid was received, which was $4,290.00 from Lane County Nursery. t <br /> The estimated cost was $4,090.96. The Parks Department recommended acceptance of the bid. <br /> Half of the project is to be financed by Land and Water Conservation funds. Dr. Purdy <br /> moved seconded by Mr.Anderson to award the contract to Lane County Nursery~ Motion carried. <br /> t <br /> , No action was taken.
