The City Manager said <br /> the petitioners withdrew their application. <br /> 2 6. Package Store Class A License, Millers Grocery, 1065 East 20th - A map of the "dry zone" <br /> around the University was displayed. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mrs. Hayward to recommend approval of the application. <br /> Some of the Council members felt an opinion should be received from the University <br /> with regard to existence of the "dry zone" prior to the Council's taking action. <br /> Others felt the "dry zone" was a matter to be settled between the University and <br /> the Liquor Commission. Councilman Wingard mentioned the precedent of Bob's Superette <br /> being licensed to sell beer. This market is located within the "dry zone." Andrew <br /> Thompson and John Reynolds, University professors speaking unofficially, said that <br /> although no decisive vote was taken at a recent faculty meeting the consensus was <br /> that the "dry zone" no longer has a place in connection with the campus and should <br />. be abolished. <br /> A vote was taken on the motion as stated, and motion carried, Councilmen Lassen, McDonald, and Wingard <br /> voting no. <br /> ORDINANCES <br />. 3 Council Bill No. 8566 - Levying assessments for portion of sanitary sewer in BD-65-4 (bounded by <br />. line 800 feet north of and parallel to Barger Drive, Southern Pacific right-of-way, Concord Street, <br /> and future north/south Belt Line Road), submitted and read the first time in full on June 24, 1968 <br /> and held over to this meeting to allow proper notice of assessment to be given owners of affected <br /> properties, was brought back for consideration with no written protests on file. <br /> This bill levies assessments against the Graville and Fish properties which were deleted from C.B.8l92 <br /> (Ordinance 15024) adopted by the Council on November 27, 1967. The assessments were deferred at that <br /> time until permission was obtained from Lane County to run connections through the right-of-way at <br /> the Belt Line intersection to serve the properties. The lines have been constructed and the sewer is <br /> now available to the properties. <br /> Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen that the bill be read the second time by council bill number <br />. only, with unanimous consent of the Council.
