These are fbuc.:year terms, and it is suggested reappointment of Mrs. Miller and Mr. Morse be considered. Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mr. Gribskov to appoint Mr. Wally Kellog to the Eugene Renewal Agency for a term ending July 10, 1972, and renew the appointments of Mrs. Miller and Mr. Morse for a term ending July 10, 19~3. Motion carried. Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mr. McDonald to approve Item 9 of the Committee report. ~otion carried. e 10. Amazon Pool, 1970 term - Mrs. Hayward said she had received a carbon copy of a letter. from the principal of Roosevelt Junior High School requesting that Amazon Pool be opened before the end of the 1970 school year, in order to allow swimming instruction. Mrs. Hayward asked that an attempt be made to provide lifeguards so that those areas could use the city pools, just as Sheldon does. 11. Airport - Mayor Anderson commented that the airport is open, and complimented all those involved for the good job done. Mr. Gribskov suggested that a lette~ be sent to the various paving and gravel companies thanking them for their cooperation. I Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mr. McDonald to receive and place on file Items 10 and 11 of the Committee report. Motion cafried. Segregation, James R. Kahn - Located on. Buck Street south of 12th Avenue. Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mr. McDonald to approve the segregation of assessment as outlined by the City Manager. Rollcall. All councilmen present voting aye, the motion carried. Proclamation, Police Department - A Proclamation signed by the Mayor, was read. It sets aside one week to honor policement. Proposed agreement, Lane"County - Lane County has presented an agreement regarding payment for sewer engineering in River Road area, requesting that, in the event this facility is constructed by the city of Eugene, the City would assume. the burden of repaying advance planning loan. Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mr. McDonald- that the Council approve the proposed City-County agreement. Rollcall. All councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. Bid, County Jail Addition, opened ApriL 24, 1969, 10:00 a.m. Arnt Ree and Son low-bidder on base bid, alternates and alternate to. provide an exercise yard, ventilation fa~ilities, etc. County Commissioners have acted on this and approved it, and have asked the City Council to approve the low bid and exercise both alternates one and two. Total cost, $64,000.00. The' City would be expected. to assume 1/2 the cost. I Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mr. McDonald to approve the low bid of Arnt Ree and Son and to exerctse both options one and two. Mr. McDonald asked if this amount was in the budget. City Manager said it was not, and the 'City will have to try to budget it in a succeeding budget. Rollcall. All aye except Mrs. Beal. Motion carried. e Liquor License Applications approved by the Police Department Class "A" RMBA - The Brass Rail - 746 Park Street Package Store, Class "B", Safeway Stores, West 13th Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mr. McDenald that the City Council approve the foregoing liquor licenses. Motion carried. ORDINANCES I C. B. 8812 - Construct a sanitary sewer in the area bounded by a line 160' rnrth of Pershing Street on the north; by the southern Pacific Railroad right of way on the east and south; and by Highway: 99(NotthJoti.:..th~ west was submitted and read in full, at meeting of April 14, and held over for further consideration. The Planning Commission has informed the Council it would like to see the letter from the 'County Sanitarian before making a recommendation on this area. It is now residential and will probably be converted to industrial, so would not need the same type and frequency of connections. Manager read. letter from County Sanitarian.
