Amazon Pool, 1970 term - Mrs. Hayward said she had received a carbon copy of a letter. <br />from the principal of Roosevelt Junior High School requesting that Amazon Pool be opened <br />before the end of the 1970 school year, in order to allow swimming instruction. Mrs. <br />Hayward asked that an attempt be made to provide lifeguards so that those areas could <br />use the city pools, just as Sheldon does. <br /> <br />11. Airport - Mayor Anderson commented that the airport is open, and complimented all those <br />involved for the good job done. Mr. Gribskov suggested that a lette~ be sent to the <br />various paving and gravel companies thanking them for their cooperation. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mr. McDonald to receive and place on file Items 10 and 11 of <br />the Committee report. Buck Street south of 12th Avenue. <br /> <br />Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mr. McDonald to approve the segregation of assessment as outlined <br />by the City Manager. Rollcall. All councilmen present voting aye, the motion carried. <br /> <br />Proclamation, Police Department - A Proclamation signed by the Mayor, was read. It <br />sets aside one week to honor policement. <br /> <br />Proposed agreement, Lane"County - Lane County has presented an agreement regarding <br />payment for sewer engineering in River Road area, requesting that, in the event this <br />facility is constructed by the city of Eugene, the City would assume. the burden of <br />repaying advance planning loan. <br /> <br />Mrs. Hayward moved seconded by Mr. McDonald- that the Council approve the proposed City-County <br />agreement. Rollcall. All councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> <br />Bid, County Jail Addition, opened ApriL 24, 1969, 10:00 a.m. Arnt Ree and Son low-bidder <br />on base bid, alternates and alternate to. provide an exercise yard, ventilation fa~ilities, <br />etc. County Commissioners have acted on this and approved it, and have asked the City <br />Council to approve the low bid and exercise both alternates one and two. Total cost, <br />$64,000.00. B. 8812 - Construct a sanitary sewer in the area bounded by a line 160' rnrth of Pershing <br />Street on the north; by the southern Pacific Railroad right of way on the east and south; and by <br />Highway: 99(NotthJoti.:..th~ west was submitted and read in full, at meeting of April 14, and held <br />over for further consideration. <br />The Planning Commission has informed the Council it would like to see the letter from the 'County <br />Sanitarian before making a recommendation on this area. It is now residential and will probably <br />be converted to industrial, so would not need the same type and frequency of connections.
