Combellack, 3021 Friendly, have <br />agreed to give an easement for sewer construction, provided a pyament of $95.00 is <br />made to cover damage to shnubbery. Staff recommends payment of this amount, since <br />it is a reasonable cost for damages. No action was Baken at this time. <br /> <br />Mr. McDonald moved seconded by Mr. Teague to approve payment of $95.00 to Mr. and Mrs. Combellack, <br />3021 Friendly, to cover cost of damage to shrubbery. Rollcall vote. All councilmen present <br />voting aye, the motion carried. <br /> <br />7. Correspondence - A letter from Governor Tom McCall 60nveying appreciation to the City <br />Council for support of his position on sotrage of nerve gas in Oregon; letters of <br />commendation to the Police Department.f~om Weyerhauser Company, the District <br />Attorney's office and'Howard School; and a letter from Oregon Park and Recreation <br />Society 'congratulating the community for winning the Gold Medal Awardffrom the <br />National Sports Foundation, were read at the meeting. An invitation to schedule <br />a demonstration ride in a helicopeer was distributed. The Manager said purchase <br />of a helicopter was not contemplated in this year's budget. <br /> <br />Mr. McDonald moved seconded by Mr. Teague to ~eceive and file Item 7 of the Committee report. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />8. ERA Mall Lighting - Dr. Purdy requested a cost estimate on proposed "unbreakable" <br />lights to be used in the mall. He felt the cost might be prohibitative, and <br />something else should be considered. <br /> <br />Mr. McDonald moved seconded by Mr. Teague to receive and file Item 8 of the Committee report. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />9. Housing Authority Meeting - Councilman Gribskov reported on a meeting with Lane County <br />Housing Authority=Board, and said they will follow through with the City request for <br />300 units Tur~ke-yJiousing and will consider reactivating ,the application for 100 units <br />of leased housing requested last summer. <br /> <br />Councilman Williams said the Housing Authority agreed in principal with points out- <br />lined in a letter the Council authorized requesting information about applicants <br />and directing their staff to work with Mrs. Cushman to provide specific forms that <br />would eliminate duplication of information. <br /> <br />The Manager has written the County Commissioners requesting a joint meeting to discuss <br />and resolve some Council questions on the Housing program. <br /> <br />Mr. McDonald moved seconded by Mr. Teague to receive and file Item 9 of the Committee report. <br /> <br />Mr. Williams suggested minutes be corrected to say Housing Authority will consider reactivation <br />application for 100 units leased housing. Minutes corrected as above. <br /> <br />Vote taken on motion. Motion carried. <br /> <br />'l.o'~ Occupancy Permit, Baitis CompiLaint - Mr. Henry Baitis, who had requested abatement of a <br />house on East 43rd, objected to issuance of an occupancy permit, which he said was <br />issued December 1st. He outlined corrections required by the Building Department which <br />he said have not yet been completed. <br /> <br />Dr. Purdy requested staff to report on this situation, and comment on the occupancy <br />permit. He asked what steps, legal or otherwise, had been taken since the court <br />prohibited abatement. <br /> <br />Mr. McDonald moved seconded by Mr. Teague to receive and file Item 10 of the Committee report. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />11. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />12. February 16 Fire Coverage - Councilman Mohr commented on activities at. the recent fire at <br />15th and University. He, Mrs. Hayward and Mr. McDonald expressed regret at some reports <br />concerning the fire, and said they had seen no destruction or interference by students <br />with activities of the firemen. <br /> <br />Mr. McDonald moved seconded by Mr. Teague to receive and file Item 12 of the Committee report.
