Recommended denial of zone changes <br />A. Darrel Lanz, south of Stewart Road, west of Bailey Hill Road, from RA to M-2 <br />for construction of a cabinet shop. <br /> <br />Manager explained location of this property, and explained that the Council had <br />looked at it on tour. He eXplained that the Planning Commission <br />could not rehear this rezoning for another year if it was turned down. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Mohr suggested the motion be amended to provide that the City Council direct <br />controls specified by Planning Commission be placed on this ordinance as conditions <br />for the zone change. <br /> <br />Planning Director explained that, if the Council and Planning Commission did not <br />agree on a change of zone, a joint meeting should be held. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Gribskov that the Council refer this matter back <br />to the Planning Commission and request a joint meeting for reconsideration. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Neal Sande, located north of 13th Avenue and east of Monroe Street, from R-2 <br />to R-3 to allow medium density multiple family housing. <br /> <br />Mr. McDonald moved seconded by Mr. Teague that the Council uphold the Planning <br />Commission recommendation for denial of rezoning of property located on 13th Avenue. <br /> <br />Mr. Neal Sande, 502 Stagecoach Way, Salem, Oregon, stated his reasons for requesting <br />rezoning of this property, and said there was no valid plan in effect which included <br />this area. <br /> <br />Planning Director explained that rezoning should be based on an overall plan for <br />an area, and that density should not be increased in that area. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />1 <br />I <br />\ <br />II <br />Ii <br />I ~ <br /> <br />Vote taken. on motion as stated.
