Mall Dedication Steering committee~;(Co~~itt;~~meeting, October 21, 1970)
The Chamber of Commerce and Eugene 'Downtown Association have volunteered to provide an
ad hoc committee for Mall Dedication. Opening of the Mall is scheduled for February I
13, 1971, with a week of celebration.

" The general consensus was that the Mayor should appoint a Mall Dedication Steering
Committee at the regular meeting of October 26. An important factor to consider is that
the committee should have representation of the people of Eugene, as well as from the
Downtown Association and the Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber of Commerce has an informal steering committee, as outlined in a memo circulated to the
Council, which has requested designation as a Mayor's ad hoc committee.

Mayor Anderson said, if the Council wished, he would authorize this committee to constitute a
Mall Dedication Committee, and authorize it to proceed with planning of opening ceremonies.

Mr. McDonald moved seconded by Mr. Teague to authorize the Mayor to appoint, the Chamber of Commerce
informal commit~ee as a Mall Dedication Steering Committee.
