Items to be considered with one motion after discussion of individual items, if requested. <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />The following items of legislation were discussed at the committee meeting of December 30, <br />and the indicated positions are affirmed: <br />1. 3% income t,~x supplement for cities, counties and schools - Mrs. Beal moved seconded <br />by Mr: :Mohr ,to endorse the 3% tI1come tax s_:upplem~nt ~~_ J2l:'oposed by the ,Leag:ue of <br />- -- O~egon,--CH:tes. Motion carried. <br /> <br />support <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Cigarette Tax - Three bills are presently being considered in connection with an <br />increase in the cigarette tax. <br /> <br />1- <br /> <br />Mayor Anderson suggested that the Council support any legislation which would <br />bring additional revenue to the cities, and that revenue from the cigarette tax be <br />general in nature, rather than for specific purposes. This was the general <br />consensus of the Council. support <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Urban Arterial <br />are two issues <br />Beal expressed <br />and highways. <br /> <br />Program - (Gasoline tax and automobile license increase) - There <br />proposed in connection with a gas tax and license increase. Mrs. <br />concern that revenues from this bill were earmarked for streets <br />It was explained that this was in accordance with the state charter. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Mrs. Beal said she would have <br />would be availab1.;e:,;'for higher <br />the Council would work toward <br />this bill. <br /> <br />to vote against the bill if it used money which <br />priority programs. It will probably be necessary <br />to attempt to amend the state law which provides that the city can bar the sale <br />of raw milk only if it maintains its own qualified inspection service.
