Motion carried, all councilmen present ~ <br /> voting aye, except Councilmen Williams and Hershner votin~ no. <br />Gerald Attig, speaking'f.or the petitioners., reviewed' history of the rezoning request. He <br />referred to recommendations for the C-2 PD zoning from Planning Commission, and the reas.ons <br />given f.or discouraging residential zoning in that area. He cited the scarcity .of large <br />parcels remaining in the City for use of large scale c.ommercial developments, and the w.ork <br />with the Greenway Association in retaining river frontage. He said delay for another study <br />w.ould mean more time and money f.or his clients, and in view of the length of time this matter <br />has been before the various agencies a decision. should be made at this time. <br /> Mrs. Beal moved seconded by Mr. Williams to reaffirm the action 'to tabie 'tne <br /> request pending study. Motion carried, Councilmen Beal, Campbell, Murray, and <br /> W.ood voting aye; C.ouncilmen Williams, McDonald, and Hershner voting no. <br />Councilman Wo.od commented that his "no" vote was not with the intention that the matter be <br />held an indefinite period of time, rather to give an .opp.ortunity to look into the matter for <br />more information up.on which to base a decision. <br />D. Speed Limit, Dillard and Fox Hollow Road - State Speed Control Board recommended " <br /> reduction from 40 to 35 mph on Dillard and Fox Hollow Road from Hilyard Street to <br /> the south City limit. Staff recommended accepting the limit. <br /> Comm <br /> Mrs. Beal moved seconded by Mr. Williams to accept the recommendation. 6/20/73 <br /> Approve <br /> ,In answer to Councilman Murray, Manager explained exceptions to the 35 mph limit <br /> ;would be in school zones which would be posted for reduced speeds during school <br /> hours. He also explained the bases on which the Speed Control Board makes it <br /> recommendations. <br /> Mr. Murray suggested .z:ev,iew of Cal Young Road. Assistant Manager reported it is <br /> now under review. Councilman Wood wondered whether Bailey Hill Road could be con- <br /> cs~e~e~~sistant Public Wq.z:ks Director reported improvement of that road, chang- <br /> ,ing its character, would make a different situation. Councilman McDonald suggested <br /> that motorcycle noise should be a matter of consideration when recommending traffic <br /> speeds. <br /> Vote was taken on the motion as stated. Motion carried unanj,mously. <br />H. Appointments, Eugene Renewal Agency - Mrs. Beal moved seconded by Mr. Williams to <br /> , ,reappoint Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Miller, 195 West 35th Place, and Irving Henning, Comm :.' <br /> : '2250 Lawrence Street, as members of the Eugene Renewal Agency for terms ending 6/20/73 <br /> July 10, 1977. Motion carried unanimosuly.
