Council approval of formal contract <br />,for transfer was requested. Manager reviewed terms of the contract which had Police' <br />'Department approval. <br /> <br />:Counci1woman Bea1 asked about payment for improvements and repairs, and whether <br />employes transferred, especially female employes, would receive a lower rate of pay. <br />iManager replied that the County will make decisions with regard to any improvements : <br />I <br />~or repairs, however City participation in costs of those repairs requires prior <br />,agreement between the two agencies. Assistant Manager explained that no employes <br />transferred will receive lower pay; those City employes receiving a higher rate than: <br />, now being paid by the County for a like position will receive their present rate of I <br />lpay until the County pay plan reaches that salary level. I <br />, <br />, <br />Councilwoman Campbell asked what recourse the City has should the present County i <br />philosophy change with regard to the jail's being a correctional faCility. She re- <br />ferred to possible future change in the Sheriff's posi tion. Manager noted provision I <br />',in the contract on intended philosophy for the operation of the jail, and statement ; <br />,that any change would be subject to consultation with the City. Provision is also <br />made for the right of either party to buy the other's half.
