based mainly on a need to widen the intersection at 18th and Wi 1 lamette.
However, our further study shows that the two-way conversion can be done
without the widening, although an increase in future traffic volumes will
necessitate the widening, probably as a medium-range project. Therefore,
staff recommends: a) that the cost estimate for project #134 (Willamette
Street, 11th to 20th) be revised to $30,000, and b) that project #214
(18th Avenue Intersections) be expanded to include 18th and Willamette,
and the cost estimate be revised to $1,300,000.

Washington-Jefferson Bridge -- add third southbound lane at merge of
Valley River ramp and 1-105: Staff concurs that thi s project is needed
and recommends it be programmed in the short range as a State Highway
project. Cost is $500,000; justification is S,O (safety, operational).

ACTION REQUESTED

Council is requested to tentatively adopt TransPlan with changes suggested by
the Planning Commission, staff and the Council. Following your tentative
approval and tentative approval by the other two jurisdictions and LTD the
Metropolitan Area Transportation Committee will meet and resolve any
conflicts. The recommendation by MATC will come back to you and the other
jurisdictions for adoption by ordinance.

plkmtp37

4

,

,
t

e

e

'.-
