The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was called to order by His Honor Mayor Brian B. Obie. I. ITEMS FROM THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL A. Meetings with the City's Federal Lobbyists Mayor Obie said some councilors indicated they would like an appointment with the City's Federal Lobbyists. He suggested those councilors call Cathy Freedman who will arrange the appointments. B. Committee to Review the Audit of the City's Financial Report Mayor Obie appointed Councilor Holmer, Councilor Hansen, and Councilor Rutan to a subcommittee to review the external audit of the City's annual Financial Report and report on it to the council. Mr. Holmer will chair the committee. C. Possible Additional Room Tax Mayor Obie said the council will meet with the Airport Commission on Wednesday, January 15. The possibility of funding the airport expansion b)' increasing the City's room tax will be discussed. Mayor Obie said the Lane County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, January 15, on a proposal to add one percent to the County room tax. He suggested the Lane County Commissioners be asked to join with the Eugene City Councilors and the Springfield City Councilors in forming a committee to study the use of additional room taxes for the airport expansion if the council decides to consider such a tax. None of the councilors objected to Mayor's Obie suggestion. Answering a question from Councilor Bascom, Mayor Obie said the connnittee he proposed would only study the use of an increase in the room tax for the airport expansion.
