e e e Mr. Hansen said he attended a meeting with representatives of the Eugene/Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau. He said the Bureau staff asked the County Commissioners to delay the public hearing so that the BurE!au staff can respond to the proposed room tax increase. He suggested the councilors, also, ask the County Commissioners to delay the public hearing. Answering a question from Ms. Wooten, Mr. Hansen discussed the proposal to promote tourism in the county with the increase in the County room tax. Ms. Wooten emphasized that the City Council has not discussed the proposal to increase the City room tax. She said a request to the County Commissioners to delay action on the room tax should note that the City Council hasn't explained that option. PUBLIC FORUM No one wished to address the council during the Public Forum. II. ELECTION OF CITY COUNCIL OFFICERS A. Council President and Vice President Ms. Wooten moved, seconded by Mr. Hansen, to elect Mr. Hansen as 1986 Council President and Ms. Ehrman as 1986 Vice President. Roll call vote; the motion carried unanimously, 8:0. Mayor Obie thanked Ms. Wooten for the excellent work she did as President of the Council during 1985. III. APPOINTMENTS (memo distributed) A. Consideration of Mayor's Appointments to the Riverfront Research Park Commission Ms. Wooten moved, seconded by Mr. Hansen, to approve the following appointments to the Riverfront Research Park: R.A. (Gus) Keller, 1125 East 23rd........Term to expire: 12/31/87 Harry Rubenstein, 3570 Black Oak Road....Term to expire: 12/31/87 Sally Weston, 2595 Highland Drive........Term to expire: 12/31/87 Roll call vote; the motion carried unanimously, 8:0. Ms. Wooten said she discussed the possibility of her serving as a liaison between the council and the Riverfront Research Park Commission.
