More Programs for All Ages <br />Levy Promise: Increasing events by 33% over the life of the levy with a particular <br />focus on priorities identified by the community: support for young readers and their parents; <br />activities and programs for teens; and "maker" opportunities (access to tools and skills training <br />for individuals or small businesses, including new technologies). An additional priority was to <br />deliver more Library programs off-site. <br />Adults, teens, and kids are informed, entertained, and inspired at EPL programs. <br />In FYI 7, the total number of programs delivered was 1,755, well on the way to our goal <br />of 1,800. <br />Total attendance at programs was 53,058. The FYI 7 total programs was an increase of <br />2 5% over FYI 6. <br />Research shows that language -rich activities help young children develop <br />the skills they'll need as they grow into learning to read. The mainstay program for skill <br />development is Storytimes, which provide pre -literacy skill development for the kids and <br />training for their parents. With levy funds, additional Storytimes were added and the off-site <br />Storytime-To-Go program was expanded. <br />Alter a 51 EAM (Science, I ecnnoiogy, Engineering, Art, Math) storytime, Michelle <br />and her little girl Rosey said it was "awesome." Later that week, Michelle and Rosey <br />attended another storytime. Michelle shared, "After we got home from STEAM Storytime <br />Rosey decided she wanted to be a scientist, and now after Preschool Storytime she <br />wants to be a princess scientist!" <br />The number of preschool programs provided has increased at all three locations, up 9.5% <br />over last year. <br />FYI 7: 958 programs for young children; 29,230 attendance. <br />The number of programs provided to teens has increased at all three locations, <br />up 57% over last year. <br />FYI 7: 133 programs for teens; 1 ,564 attendance. <br />Malcolm <br />"Maker" refers to traditional do-it-yourself projects and high-tech projects. <br />The Library holds free maker workshops. In addition, Library cardholders have access to <br />workshops and independent project work in the Maker Hub Open Lab and Media Lab on the <br />Downtown Library's 3rd floor. The Maker Hub opened in Spring 2016. <br />The Media Lab offers state-of-the-art audio, video, and design equipment and software. <br />FYI 7 Media Lab uses: 1,467. <br />
